OK guys who has a trusted shop that can rebuild an engine for me.

I need a Ford 351m rebuilt, not looking for a race engine just reliable transportation.

Does anyone know how to get in touch with the Jasper guy? @ELMO he was before he quit us.

No clue anymore. Its better off buying a Jasper/Proformance/ATK/Eagle etc. Even some Dealerships have factory ready create engines. Way better warranties than the usual 12 months.

The last engines we were doing for fleet accounts were coming in with 3yr 60,000 mile parts and labor warranty. Some offered a no fault one time replacement for a couple more dollars. You run it hot or out of oil, no questions asked...

Agree, stop by your dealership to price one, that is how I purchased my remanufactured transaxles for my Sable and Taurus.
Pricing is very competitive, they wholesale them in Raleigh to anyone.
Take a photo of your VIN so they can select the right engine.

They don't make an engine like mine anymore. A dealership might be wasted effort.

If I recall correctly a 351M and 351C are pretty much interchangeable. The 351W is of a different family. Still, should not be that big of a deal to rebuild a 351M.

If you want some zoom build up a Boss 351 clone to go in there. Won’t have much bottom end but the mid range and top end will be exhilarating.

Deep creek motors has a shop in Burlington. I have used them before for machine work, they also do rebuild and assembly.

It can be as cheap or as expensive as you want, just depends what you want to build. There are a few area where we strongly recommend spending money though.
If you want a quote I can put a basic one together.

I just want a stock engine. Maybe loose the smog control.

As a matter of fact, It runs good and doesn't smoke, the issue is a clacking sound coming from the bottom end that scares me.

Do a fresh oil change, if it still has that "clacking sound" just drive the snot out of it until it blows, if it blows, then get a new block from Advance. It just might run forever with that "clacking sound", or it might blow tomorrow.

Here’s the thing. Our engines are hand built, everything is fit by hand so it takes more time which in turn costs more money. The end product is better but it costs more. We also run all our engines before delivery and we have a dyno option.

If you just want a stock replacement to throw in there I would go to advance and get a price on a long block or contact jasper. They aren’t fit as well but they’re within specs(typically) so they’ll run for a while.

The other option would be to take it somewhere. Maybe you could buy yourself some time with some bearings and a crank polish. If your goal is to just keep it going for a year or two.

Could be the flex plate that drives the transmission. I wouldn't contemplate a motor until I had a mechanic check it out.

What's a mechanic? I've had the thing in 2 shops for about 2 years now and I'm no closer to a driver than when I (mistakenly) thought it would be a good idea to get an older vehicle.

I'm about to set it on fire and call it a lesson.

I'm no Ford man but hopefully one of the more knowledgeable guys will chime in with a possible visit to your car and make a fair judgement as to the obvious noises. Good luck.

I'm considering doing a 350 Olds Rocket with aluminium heads & a FI conversion. Wanting about 400 hp & an overdrive trans. Its going in a 72 Cutlass convertible. I'm guessing about 8 grand installed. Does that sound about right @Mike Overlay @spittinfire ?

I want to build that! That’s weird enough to be fun. We’ve done a number of EFI conversions and have been using a lot of Holley systems.

Ah Man you got me drooling. The 72 442 was my first car. Had a 455 backed up by a turbo 400. Man I miss that car.

My dad had a buddy that he swears bent the frame of his 442 from just the torque. I always tell him he's crazy but he would swear to it.

The torque was there alright. Mine would turn the tires over when shifting to 2nd easier than any car I ever saw and I could run it up to 90 in second and shift to high and it would turn the tires. Had a few people tell me I was crazy when I told them that until they road with me.
