So my Grendel AR has a free-float heavy barrel profile and a slimline MLOK handguard. Therein lies the problem, the handguard is too close to the barrel for me to attach anything, the screws jam into the barrel like hell. I need to put a bipod on this gun BAD. It is AR-15 sized, not AR-10. I'm assuming the 6 screws near the receiver are holding it on. Ive never done any free-float handguard research before so any help would be appreciated.

The screws hit not the nuts? Could you trim them? Is the gasblock contacting the handguard as well? It looks like there should be room ahead of the gasblock.

You will almost certainly have to change the barrel nut as well unless there is a larger ID model offered by the same brand then maybe not.

I really like ALG's handguards, they are not the slimmest, but nice ergos, not super heavy, still sturdy, may work for you.

i tried putting the bipod attachment at the end where the barrel is slimmer but the screw still hit, the gas block doesn't hit the handguard though, it's an Aero gun so i'm looking into getting another Aero handguard

i swapped screws with a different MLOK rail i have, the screws are shorter for some reason, and the bipod attachment works all the way at the end near the muzzle. but it would be nice to have a grip closer to the magwell

can't put anything closer than the gas block, which leaves about a rail and a half of length in front of it, still warrants a different handguard maybe
