Attached are a few pictures of a shotgun that belonged to a shooting friend of mine that has passed away. I have been researching to find the manufacturer and possible build date but have run into a block wall. What I do know: (1) The double barrel 12 ga has probably been restored in nickel or chrome or it is a commerorative . (2) Barrel length is 18 1/2". (3) Stocks are in good shape with just a few nicks. (4) Inscribed on side plate is "Utica Firearms Co". (5) On center rib is " Fine Stubb Twist, in bold print. (6) Serial number 341XX on forearm, barrels and lower receiver. (7) Hammers, firing pins and forearm closure are gold. (8) Pistol stock and butt end show the Simmons Hardware Co.

Based on what I think I found so far is the gun looks like pictures of a similar shotgun (without the plating and gold!) made by either Hopkins and Allen Arms, Forehand Arms Co., Crescent Firearms Co., H&D Folsum or Folsum Arms Co. I have read that Utica Firearms was not an actual manufacturer but rather a name used by several companies back in the late 1800's and early 1900's. I know that Simmons Hardware was a major firearms distributor and had guns manufactured under their name. No other markings can be found anywhere. Can anyone provide more information so that I can trace down the serial number and manufacturer (date)? It would be greatly appreciated.
