Recently picked this up. Not sure exactly what I an looking at. Appears to be a potzam variant of sorts but the proof markings don't seem to match anything I have seen before

Also sorta looks like an 1816 Springfield that was retrofitted for caps as well.

Bore diameter measures between .68 and. 71 depending on which exact spot I measure (barrel is warped a bit. Metal is real thin so don't think it is a 1848(46) model Springfield. No eagles or other standard us markings . Has something engraved on the lock side, too worn for pictures

Looks like lasien

Interesting musket. You’re right looks German of some sort. What’s the lower screw and plate go to, the trigger? I don’t recall seeing anything like that. Is that screw marked like the others? Could it have been added at some time?
Are the bands brass or steel/iron? I like it, I would have bought it, too.

Looks some what like a Swiss Model 1842. If you take the barrel off and look on the under side you will find the makers marks. I have a copy of the different markings on the other computer if you need them.

I should add I have a Belgium Model 1842 and when I was researching it years ago I could not believe how many different countries made them.
