Just got a new 365xl. Super excited! Get it home and dry fire one time and it sounds very "light" compared to my glocks. Take off the slide and manual activate the firing pin and it's barely protruding the slide. So i take out the firing pin and it looks broken to me. Can someone please confirm if this is the case? Brand new gun... I'm kinda p'd at the moment. 20220802_174755.jpg20220802_173743.jpg20220802_173728.jpg

These pistols had issues with striker drag when they were released. I’m not so sure your striker assembly is faulty as the shape may be part of sigs “improvement”. Honestly I’d run that thing and see how the primers look. it be surprised if it fails, well it’s a Sig so at some point….

What is manufacture date on box?

Is the striker channel clean? I had a different model sig that gave light strikes because the factory gummed up the striker channel with goo that I think was a rust inhibitor. It wasn't lube.

I'll have to check. Getting the firing pin out was not too easy. Gotta bend the side and push down while prying the rear cover off. It's Like i almost need 3 arms to do it

The internet says that's the new and improved firing pin. Just seems like it doesn't come out very far compared to my glocks. Maybe I'm just new to these sigs.

Well that does make me feel better. I guess I'm just used to seeing this on my glocks20220802_191357.jpg

Yours Def protrudes further than mine. Going to clean the channel now

Need to depress the striker safety plunger in order to get the striker to extend fully forward.

Cleaned the channel. You were right about it being dirty. Left is the first cleaning and right was the second pass. Still same result though.

Yes, that plunger goes down and then you can push the striker (silver L shape above and left of your fingernail) until it stops. If that’s all you get, I agree it looks strange.

Yea i pressed that piece in and pulled the firing pin forward as much as possible. It just looks very shallow to me. I have an email into sig customer service. I guess we'll see. Thank you for taking the time to talk it through. I thought they had the bugs mostly worked out. Honestly I'm kinda shocked my new gun is a 2020 model. Didn't even check that when i got it.

UPDATE:

So i called sig first thing this morning and got Heath on the phone. I explained my situation and he was not the most pleasant person. First thing he said was why did you take out the firing pin? I told him i wanted to clean the channel and make sure there wasn't any grease or oil clogging it up.

He didn't like that at all. Told me sig specifically tells you not to remove the striker for any reason. Then i asked well how would i change it if it needed replacement? He ignored me and pivoted to- so it worked and then you messed with it and now it doesn't? I said no. I got the gun new, cleaned it and just happened to notice the striker doesn't come out enough to make good contact with a primer.

I mentioned that i talked with you guys(fellow 365 owners) and based on your pics, mine Def has something going on with striker.

He shot that down with- the internet says alot of things. I told him these were simply pictures of other 365's with striker fully engaged. He ignored that.

He ended with- you have to go shot it and then we can discuss returning for evaluation.

Took my email and told me to email him proof after i shoot of spent casings.

I know he's just doing his job but his level of attitude and the way he was dismissive was a bit much for me.

Sig is a bit of a pain, he is correct that level you went to was not a field level that they recommend, potentially can get into warranty issues. I would shoot it for sure and see what if any issues you may have.

I've stopped buying Sig because of needing to deal with customer service on every single new product I've ever had from them. I've always had a pleasant guy answer though. And they always did what I asked without question. And they fixed the problem on the first visit back. Surprised that they've taken to being short tempered now. Maybe it's no different there than it is everywhere else with not enough help, and no motivated people getting hired or showing up for work.

It kinda felt like i caught him first thing and he was just not having it. I was being very calm and respectful and his attitude was noticeable. Finally i got a little more stern and he started to listen more. I agree with you Tim, i think I'll be done with sig after this. Heath has left a bad impression on me.

Good luck, I've had issues with 2 sigs and had a similar experience with the CS people being an ass and refusing to look at the pistol. Including a 365xl that was rusting. Ryan Dome was my CS person that told me I had to wipe down and reoil a pistol every time I carried it.

As others have said shoot it and call back. If Ryan or this Heath guy you are dealing with answers just hang up and try to get someone else. Maybe you'll get lucky.

Could have told him 'hold on, BLAM BLAM BLAM' OK I fired it.

Only had to call once with a used P229, would not fire unless I pressed down hard on the decocker. It has a worn sear, they replaced it no charge, I just had to pay the FedEx both ways. He did ask if I wanted them to replace all the springs for $75.

I thought about saying i tried and it wouldn't fire. I just hate lying. I told him i don't have a range close by and he just said yea well go out and shoot it. I've been thinking of joining the rad range in Graham i believe it is. Maybe this will be my motivation

Caswell range is free, and it isn't far from rad range.

Barry is the guy that runs it. He's really nice and laid back. Sometimes there's another buff gnome there that helps him. Rough around the edges but I never had any issues with him. They normally have free soda and water. Just have to watch a 5 minute video before the first time. They give you a card and you're free to shoot. Well worth the drive.

he's not out of line there
I understand his position. I just feel like clearly something isn't correct given how shallow the striker comes out. I get it though. Following protocol.

Sounds like a terrible attitude from the Sig guys, but I got to agree, you’re calling about possibly having an issue. Without shooting it, you don’t know that it doesn’t work. I’ll try to remember when I get home to take a look at mine
