Ok I have been chasing a lite primer strike issue on my main ar for a while now and I'm at a complete loss. The build

PSA freedom upper
AIM surplus TIN BCG
Anderson lower
PSA basic lower build kit
AIG milspec trigger with 4.5lb springs ( yes the springs are on correct)
Magpul MOE furniture

I had 500 rounds of flawless rounds through her then I went to a carbine class. Then she turned into a single shot. Fire one round then click. Put 500 rounds through her like that. The instructor still calls me single shot lol.

I checked the head space with go/no go gauges. Passed. I swapped the PSA BCG to the TIN BCG and for some reason it fixed the issue for around 300 rounds. Now its back.

Fires 5 or 6 rounds then click. Wolf, tula, PPU, Winchester, and federal steel and brass ammo. Does it with all ammos.

I have swapped in a new buffer spring, BCG, and checked the trigger springs. The only thing else I can think is maybe the gas port is either not aligned correctly ( PSA built the upper not me, has a pinned gas block), or the gas port is too small and not allowing enough gas to completely reset the trigger everytime. I was wanting to swap the barrel for a lighter profile from BA.

Any ideas?

I would buy a firing pin protrusion tool and measure.

Or swap the firing pins between three BCG's and see whats up.

Do you have a lower screw that you adjust to tighten the upper lower fit? IF so is it in use? OR are you using the wedge thing that fits under the rear takedown pin?

I do not have the gauge but will order one. I have tried 3 different firing pins with the same results.

I do not have a tension screw on my lower and do not have one of the plastic wedges, should I be using one? I have never had to use o e before.

And I ordered the gauge, the wedge and 2 more firing pins from brownells. :)

Sounds like it identifies as a 1911 (I kid!)

Only suggestion is to clean up the firing pin channel, and you’ve probably done that already.

Question: when the rifle goes "click", is there a live round in the chamber?
If so, then the BCG has cycled a fresh round, and the gas block is not part of the problem.
Does the unfired round have any marks on the primer?

Is there a live round in the chamber for the click? Is there a mark on the primer?

Yes there is a fresh round in the chamber. It has a very light mark on the primer but not enough to set off the round. I thought first it was a bad firing pin ( I have gotten several from PSA that were short). I tried 3 different firing pins, but still had the issue.

The FP gage tool will fix most questions.

The next option is a drop rod for the throat wear

Sounds like your rifle is not going completely into battery. Check for trash or an obstruction in the barrel extension area that would cause the bolt to not fully seat.

@JBoyette

I cleaned the crap out of the rifle and BCG. Firing pin channel is clean. Swapped in a new firing pin. Got these....

Waiting on the firing pin gauge from Brownells and some extra firing pins. They should be here Friday.

Do you have another functioning AR to swap parts with? Try swapping uppers/lowers to narrow down where the problem lies.
I don't know what's causing it. But, the problem should show up as either an "upper problem" or a "lower problem".
Just my thought on how I'd go from here.

@JBoyette

I got the gauge today. There is something going on with the BCG. The firing pin is not sticking out far enough. I tried 4 new pins just to check. The only other BCG I have atm is a ultralight weight that's in my competition ar so i can't swap them ( I checked it and it's good, it has never given me issues). I have contacted AIM surplus to see if they will exchange the BCG. I will be ordering a Tool craft BCG next week.

I always use a long pipe cleaner to really get the FP hole on the bolt clean and make sure there is nothing deep inside that is built-up enough to hold up full protrusion of the FP.
Maybe worth a double check.

There's your answer, Russian collusion.

Hey, just trying to be helpful.

I’ve got one upper that I use to shoot 223 steel case ammo. In that upper I use a 7.62x39 firing pin. They’re slightly longer for the hard primers.

Well atm there is 200 rounds of steel case through her with the new BCG. No issues of any kind. Nice deep marks on the primers. Hopefully this fixed the issue. Thanks guys

I assume the bolt was out of spec correct?
Just the bolt ... I’m to curious about stuff. I’d take the BCG in question and swap in a known good bolt and firing pin (from the new one) to see if it works. Failure analysis is fun if you can get the answer ... and involves range time :D

The issue with swapping parts around is assumption one of the parts is within spec. It might be, it might not. Owning the correct tools to measure the spec is faster and less costly in the long run if one owns a number of rifles.

How true!!! must have known good replacement parts .
