I think if I was shot down and hiding in the woods I would much prefer an integrally suppressed 300BLK carbine. As soon as you open up with 556 you'll be fighting the entire squad / platoon / etc. instead of hopefully just taking out the one guy likely to discover you and evading. Or taking them out one by one as they each come looking for the last guy, lol.

I know I'm being unrealistic, but that's still what I'd want!

At least they got a better deal than the 20k Barrett Sniper Rifle

Good points. Personally, I think a very, very well integrally suppressed handgun. I'm unsure whether I'd recommend 22lr hp or something like 32acp Silvertips.
It just occurred to me that neither of those bullets would be acceptable.

"The M4 carbine also breaks down into two main components. Two pins disconnect the M4''s upper receiver from the lower receiver and barrel assembly."

Hey that sounds just like mine!

$2.6 mil for 2700 take-down carbines comes to $963 ea. That's not too terrible a price for .gov spending on specialty parts.
That price doesn’t include the 10 to 20 billion they spent on “research and development” for it though. ;)

Ummm.....OK....

Seems like a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. How many aircrew since VN have needed a gun (of any type)? How often are aircrews going to train? Do the survival guys maintain it, or does the armorer? So many questions...

How does this do something that just pushing out the 2 pins in a "normal" gun and having two pieces doesn't do?
More compact pieces since the upper receiver stays with the lower, plus the foldable grip.

Can’t be much faster, just more convenient to stow away.

It should also keep the FCG pocket cleaner than a lower with the upper removed, but I’m not sure that was a problem they were trying to solve.

US aircrew that go down over Syria or Afghanistan are sure to be captured and killed slowly if they are unable to resist. A Jordanian pilot was burned todeath by ISIS when captured.

Yeahhh....I don't know that it's a bad idea, I just don't know that it's a good idea. It's a LOT of money and logistics for a very low-probability event.

Unless you're the one shot down. Then they haven't spent enough. ;)
