Put together an 18" rifle gas system spr today, went to test fire a few rounds and the bolt doesn't move at all that I can see, doesn't extract the brass from the chamber, but I can pull it back and cycle it fine. Checked the gas block, seemed to be aligned fine. The dimples on the barrel lined up with the set screws. Friend thinks the gas tube is too loose in the block., After removing the gas block, this is the inside.

Is that a normal gas pattern or are the dimples off?

Can you tell if there's any carbon/residue in the chamber near the carrier key? I.e., the back end of the gas tube?

If there's no gas getting through the tube, then with the tube or block are stopped up. Or, the hole in the barrel is grossly undersized.

Can't really tell, the tube is pretty loose in the gas block. Cheaper gas block, so my fault probably for skimping. I'll pick up a YHM or Troy block from local store tomorrow and try it Saturday. If that's not the solution, I'll drill out gas hole slightly larger.

I have a seekins adjustable I'll sell you. I put it on a barrel but never used it. It contacted the super slim rail on my spr

Two things,

One poor seal. I assume the gas block slips right on no issue to the barrel? If so you have too much slack .if true spray paint the barrel, let dry, slip back on. The paint should tighten the fit..

There's a little tightness too it but it's one of the easier ones I've had to slide on. Most of the time I've had to tap then on with a hammer. This one doesn't.

Tried a second block, thinking the cheaper one was out of spec. The second block (yankee hill) slides right on like butter.. So i guess the barrel is too small there.

Anyway besides the paint trick to fix this or am I out of my $$$ on a barrel?

Have you checked the simple things? Figure you have but... Can you blow air through the gas tube, the block? I once got a gas tube that had debris clogging it badly from a very loved manufacturer. Stuff happens. If the part ismeant to allow something to flow through I double check that it can do so:)

Just tighten the hole by a shim or a shot of spray paint. Not a big deal .i have been known to paint the foot and once the GB is on spray it again to build a seal. Simple and free

A little rokkSet or disassemble your Bcg and make sure your gas rings are offset of each other. Also make sure your Gas key on the BCG doesn’t have blowout from under it.
