Just bought a new Bugout and Mini Presidio 2 with the axis locks, both manuals, no spring assist with opening/closing. These aren’t my first Benchmades, but it’s been a while since I’ve had one with the axis lock.

I see all the cool kids on YouTube able to flick their manual Benchmades out very easily and also close them very easily. For me to be like these awesome dudes, do just need to open and close the knives like 1000 times to “break in” the action or do I need to open them up and mod them?

I’d rather avoid modding them if I can help it. I watched one video and there’s a heck of a lot of tiny springs and crap I’d rather not deal with.

Simple fix. Loosen the screw a touch. Just a hair. Then oil it. I've been there and done that. Solves the problem in 30 seconds.

Best knife lube ever. I know your close to me and your more than welcome to try it.

Everything mentioned above is very sound advice in my experience. The Bugout especially takes a little while or a little manipulation to be easily "flickable". But man is it worth it. Because of an "industry" job I had, I bet I have owned around 150 or so Benchmades. Now I only own 4. Three of the 4 are Bugouts. That knife has really grown on me.

Thanks for all the suggestions, just loosened the pivot screw on the Bugout and added 2 drops of FP-10 (what I had handy) and I can flick it open 8 times out of 10 now and it drops free when on then close. Already cut myself and as well as I was too slow moving my pinky out of the way on a close attempt. Now rocking one of my daughter’s purple princess band-aids on my right pinky finger as that’s all I could find.

I got one from you for my girlfriend. Now I covet that stupid knife haha. It's awesome.

From a weight/performance perspective, it rules pretty hard.
