I picked up an S&W Bodyguard .380 last week for office wear, mostly because I'm fluffy and getting tired of an IWB digging into me. So a light weight pocket carry option is what I was after.

Took my pants off last night, tossed them in the wash and forgot the pistol was still in the pocket. Damn this thing is light.

And clean.

Nice to see it survived the washer! I imagine if the safeties can stand being bounced around in a maytag, you don't have to worry about it falling on the floor.

I went with the non-safety version. So far, so good. It's DAO, kinda like a semi-auto J Frame trigger.

EDIT: I DID remember and got the thing pulled out of the drink before stuff really got going. No spin cycle - just a tub full of water when I pulled it out.

I've had a few loose rounds go through a complete wash cycle but I never washed my pistol! They all went bang btw - no fails.

My dad loved his Bodyguard, then went for a LCP 2.

Not sure why but he did.

I went in the store thinking I'd get the LCP 2. It's significantly less expensive and gets good reviews. After handling them both, the BG felt better in the hand and I (may be one of the few) actually LIKE the long trigger pull of the BG. It does fell much like a j-frame. I thought the LCP's trigger was a bit too short/light for a pocket gun. Especially considering it's most likely to be used at near contact range, not across a room.

Also glad the Washer survived it..... LOL.

Silly me...I've been considering buying an ultrasonic cleaning system. :D

Wait a minute! Don't .380's just bounce off of bad guys? Unless of course it's a CZ-83......:p

I got upgraded to a LCP II by Academy. They seriously Effed Up a service thing with Ruger and I requested a replacement or a full refund for my LCP. They tell me OK and I agree to a new LCP. I get there and they don't have one and the store manager offered up an LCP II.

I'm not the least bit afraid of the trigger. I was doing Bill Drills with it. I never even seriously attempted that with the LCP.

I carry it in a sticky pocket holster. Not that crappy thing Ruger puts in the box. Every day. It's always the only thing in that pocket. Oddly enough, they don't fire if you put them in a holster and keep your fingers and other crap out of the trigger guard.

That's irosponsable . You neede to know where your firearms are at all times. Glad nothing bad happened.

The S&W BG 380 is an excellent choice for a pocket pistol. I had the Keltec, the LCP and the LC9. All gone. I really like the DAO action of the BG. One in the pipe with the hammer down. The Rugers are at half cock with one in the pipe. My BG is unbelievably accurate with the Hornady Critical Defense load. The BG will be my summer carry gun.

Shouldn't be an issue, I've washed 3 of my S&W's with no ill effects. My mod 19, 2.5" got washed one day when I fell out of a canoe and again when I jumped off a railroad trestle. Washed my 36 one day because I forgot I had it on and jumped in voluntarily. Blow 'em out and dry 'em off and they'll be good as new....

I've heard of problems with the slide not locking back on empty on some of the 380 pocket guns, especially the kahr, due to weakening mag springs when being left loaded. If it wasn't my main HD gun I'd consider unloading the mags at home. Or get the glock 42 or Ruger LCP :p

The BG 380 fits a bill that sadly the Glock 42 can not. I loved my 42 when I had it but it was too large for deep concealment or pocket carry.
