That's got to be gassy as hell on a 5.56 gun (all other variables equal). I wonder the weight.

Silencer shop says 8oz. That's a heavy .22 can, but a really light 5.56 can. It doesn't have appeal to me, but everyone has different needs.

Any info on pricing?

Can't see it being appealing to someone who already has a rimfire can, but for someone who is can-less like me, this definitely has some appeal as a can that mostly sits on a AR-22, and gets occasional use on a 5.56 AR, a bolt-action rimfire rifle and rimfire pistol. For me, the greater weight relative to a rimfire can would only matter on the rimfire pistol. The bolt-action is on a bipod (too heavy to shoot accurately freehand anyway), and the AR-22 uses a 4.5" barrel, so it's plenty light already and the extra weight of the can isn't sitting out very far away.

If it wasn't for the stamp, this would be a no-brainer for me. Start with this, then if I want dedicated cans, sell it to help fund two dedicated cans. But since the purchase is more or less permanent, starting off with dedicated cans may be the right long-term move.

I guess if 5.7 FN was more popular it might make some sense, idk.

And I'm a Griffin fan btw.

Meh. It's still buying a can from a company that acts like a bunch of 14-year-old girls online.

There is immature crap that has happened throughout the NFA industry for decades with big name companies/people. Griffin is not immune. They haven’t done anything earth shattering like Gemtax and people still buy from those companies relentlessly

This can is awesome

Per Griffin:

“These meter 136dB on a 16” AR in the taper mount set up and 142dB at the ear in the shorter 5.3” configuration. Not bad for an Ultra light hunting rig or something you want to knock the edge off of. Probably meters the same at 8oz as my 17oz direct thread 5.56 can.

We asked ourselves what would be cool if a rimfire can could do that? We already made a 3 lug .22lr can for 11 years. We thought it would be cool if we could take a tiny rimfire can and legitimately put it on something like a 14.5" AR or a 20" A2 in the out of box configuration and shoot 5.56mm through it. We thought, why not also make it compatible with a standard 9mm pistol 3 lug mount we make so it could have parts commonality with items already in a customers collection? We thought if the 5.3" can will take 14.5" 5.56mm, why not also make a taper mount interface and accept those mounts. And while doing that, why not design it so it can take 22-250, or 222 Remington, or 22 nosler? And then we made the can and realized it was even cooler than we imagined it could be. That it was just awesome to push a Surefire D60 through a take apart rimfire can.

Does it do everything? No. Is it compromised for rimfire use? Absolutely not. It meters 115 on a pistol, 116 on a rifle, it is quiet, it is short. It is lighter and more quiet than the old (and weaker 5.7mm rated) 9.5 or 10 ounce SWR Spectre .22lr that really was popular in its time when we had a 3.5 ounce Checkmate that wasn't as popular.”

Taper mount adapter. I’m ready!!!!
