New M&P Shield 9mm

Enjoy it, I just snapped up the .45 model with the rebate.

^ Likewise, PSA sale + rebate. I already had the 9...taught my niece to shoot it! Unfortunately, she is currently living in Manhattan :( But, she shoots with her uncle when she visits home...

Yep, the PSA deal was too tempting. My Taurus 709 is exactly the same size and runs fine, it will live in the car now.

Nice guns, throat is a little tight in mine, sucks I can't feed it my go to loads.
Was out ringing some steel with it this morning.

Thanks. I love my CZs but the Rami is a bit chunky and heavy for my EDC. When it is time to break out the SP-01 on the other hand, pure joy.

I'm going to juggle it with my Taurus PT111 G2. The Shield with the Belly Band, Taurus with a belt most likely.

Go ahead and get some grip tape. The Shield needs it unless you have the 45 version.

And look up Hyve Technologies...they make great Shield parts. And the +2 baseplates are great on your back up mags.

Talon Grips (rubber) made all the difference in the world on mine.

Yeah, that's what I roll with on my Shield. I do have to change them at the end of the summer. Summer sweat kinda degrades it's grip surface.

Shield 9mm 001.JPG I've been carrying mine since 2014. If I didn't have one I'd sure jump on the deals today.

I like the magguts +2 version better. Much more low profile.

I have a few safe queen M&P's but not one that I shoot that doesn't have Talons. I haven't yet found a better upgrade.

By the way, I want to buy a couple Shield 9mm 7 round magazines. As L2S knows, I have a bunch of 8 rounds but they don't drop because of my fat palm. While the 8 round magazines are being sold for around $20, the best price I can find on the 7 is $25. Buying 7 or more (I believe we can mix types), the price comes down to $21.25. Anybody around the triad want to go in on a group buy? I'd be happy to open it up to everybody but the cost of me shipping a couple to you would probably be close to the same as buying them yourself.

Enjoy your new Shield. I bought one for the wife for Christmas and then added a CTC Laser Pro.

Just picked up a second one, between the Brownell's code, S&W rebate and eBates discount it came to the FFL's door for $203. Couldn't say no, and the FDE will coordinate with more outfits. So act fast, get yourself another Shield and be dapper like me.

Don't c'ya need a few more 7 round magazines to go with those?

;)

Thanks everyone. Got it out to the range and really enjoyed it. Much better trigger and much more accurate for me than my Taurus carry pistols (709 and PT111G2).

I just pulled the Shield out of the safe for the first time in awhile. (Been carrying the PPS more lately). The range trip with the Shield was a disaster. Then I remembered the problems I had with the grip when I bought it. The grip is so slender and like an oval, I was pressuring it more with my strong, big hand then twisting the gun to the left.

So I had to focus on more off-hand pressure to get back on target. (It's different from Glock and PPS M1 that have a blockish grip.) The full size M&P oval grip is more natural for me.

I put Tru Glo TFO sights on mine and love it. Only gripe I have is that mine does not seem to like the cheap ammo (Russian). Seems to FTE every so often with that stuff. this has never happened with any other ammo.

I stopped running Tula when I became concerned it might cause more wear than brass. The Tula cycled fine in my FS M&P but I'd burned it all up before buying my first Shield.

I won't need to buy 9mm for a month or so but I've been wondering about https://www.outdoorlimited.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=115grpcl9mm. Anybody know anything? I went through a thousand rounds of https://www.outdoorlimited.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=mm9mm115tmj and was satisfied. Out of the case, I had maybe 3 or 4 that failed to fire. Next time I was picking up at Outdoor Limited I asked if they had any use for them. They took them and said David was building a lamp out of such rounds. I'd like to see that when he's finished.

Magcommander has them for $21.69. I bought six magazines a couple of weeks ago for my full size 9 and they shipped fast.

I have heard that it will shorten barrel life but the money it saves more then replaces the new barrel and pays for more ammo. I wish I had endless cash to only buy the best but the more ammo costs the less I can shoot. More shooting equals a happier and more accurate me!

That first one I listed above is the same price as Tula. Anybody have thoughts?
