I need to treat y'all to a picture of my dads mechanic cart. It's got uh, character.
If only it could tell stories.
What’s the diameter of the wheels & the height from the bottom of the box and the floor.Threw a couple stickers under the lid after taking the pic.
The only thing I don't like is the fixed castors on one side. I may replace those.
That is a real mechanics cart. This thing helped pay the bills for almost my entire upbringing. Definitely older then I am. It's had MANY engines and transmissions set ontop of it. I think the biggest thing that I personally set on the cart was a complete front cradle from my ws6 firebird. Lt1-t56 and all. That may have contributed to its current condition lol.
My dad would say "it's still got some life left in it" and I guess he wouldn't be wrong. Someone used it to work on a Jetta earlier today.

I have that one in orange because they didn't have the grey in stock. It served ok for a couple years. 2-4 inches of width would be nice. Casters were annoying. Recommend the side shelf. I still need to figure out what to do with mine since I moved off the shop floor completely.I've been wanting one for a while. I'm going to get rid of two of my 3 stacked boxes.
Tools I use on the regular. Over flow stays in the big top box.
I found about 5 10mm sockets that I "lost"

I noticed the castors making some noise so I will likely replace them. For me, the size it near perfect. My garage is packed, 3 motorcycles, table saw, wood working equipment. My son is sharing the space, wood storage, a disassembled truck.....I have that one in orange because they didn't have the grey in stock. Our kitchen is a black and white motif and we have a bakers stone that is a marble slab that probably weighs 400 lbs. My "friends" refuse to help me move it again..... we put it on one of those black husky boxes as an island. My wife loves it and wants another for our back mudroom. They are out of stock, maybe we can get another around Christmas time....I got one of those when they only had red.. then got a 72” box thats blue… and now my tool cart don’t match. I’m going to have to be fixing that at some point. First world problems, I know.
I do really like the us general carts though. We even have a white one in the kitchen… along with a white husky box with butcher block top as an island. 😂

That is kind of how I found the wmechanics cart. Searching for alternatives.
Dad uses a husky one for a cooking cart for the grille, blackstone (or whatever it's called) etc.I got one of those when they only had red.. then got a 72” box thats blue… and now my tool cart don’t match. I’m going to have to be fixing that at some point. First world problems, I know.

Measure the hole spacing before you go. It would be good to get a tracing on paper. The casters on the carts have a bit different spacing than the loose ones sold on the shelves I found out. I've bought 3 HF Service carts and replaced the fixed 2 on them all. I'd expect the tool carts to be similar. Swapping out the 2 fixed casters makes them much more useful. The only thing I don't like is the fixed castors on one side. I may replace those.
