new Old Man gun - SA Ronin 1911 in 9mm

I put one in my last, not expecting to like it, but I really do, much more than flat pivoting triggers.
As popular as I thought they are, at least judging from how many I see on 1911 forums, they seem sort of scarce. You can find the 10-8 version pretty much anywhere, and I think that trigger was their first product, but all the reviews say the 10-8 trigger requires a heck of a lot of fitting. I don’t mind fitting, but the less the better. Wilson Bulletproof (which I have great luck with their parts), was out of stock.

Sooooo and believe me, I'm Not being judgemental. Nobody like to "mortify" guns more than me. With that...it appears what we are ending up with here is the original Slide and Lower????
I haven’t swapped internals....yet. And may not.
Still original to the gun:
extractor
firing pin
firing pin stop
bushing
barrel
grip safety
slide stop
main spring
recoil spring
recoil spring plug
guide rod
sear
hammer
disconnector
strut
all pins

I mostly just change controls to get the ergos like want them.

Not positive, pretty sure I went with an Ed Brown. Took a file stroke or two on the top and bottom to have a free range of travel.

I may switch it for a Harrison I don't think I saw it before I like a smooth trigger over serrated.

The Wilson looks to be in stock at Midwest Gun Works.

Chambers custom and thunder mountain make different lengths if you don't want long.

I was on Brown's and Harrison’s sites last night looking for this and totally missed their flat triggers.
Doh.
The Nighthawk is in line with what I want though, so it should be good for my need.

Flat faced trigger is fit and installed, and adjusted for over-travel.
I think I am done with this beast. Hope it runs. At this point I don’t think I’m going to swap out ignition parts. I am happy enough with the trigger as it is for match blasting.

Oooooh! lol.

Holster showed up right after the match today. Garrett Silent Thunder, leather lined kydex.
EDIT: My advice if you order one and plan to use it with a Fatboy belt, request the 1 3/4" loops. My older Fatboys will work with the regular loops but the newer ones are a smidge wider than 1 1/2".

Going to swap out the hammer, strut, sear, disconnector, and sear spring with a set from Cylinder and Slide, simply because I haven’t done it before to see what, if any, improvement it effects. Trigger was not good out of the box. It has smoothed out a fair amount. I figure if some is good, then a lot is better.
Also swapping the slide stop and all the pins while I’m at it. Everything in the frame but the grip safety and ejector will be replaced at that point.

All the parts in the slide are still stock and working as advertised.

I’ve never had trouble with Springfield’s MIM parts (or whoever makes those parts), but I figure I’ll see what I’ve missing, if anything, assuming I make it all work.

Nighthawk flat faced trigger incoming.

I like flat triggers in striker fired blasters, can’t be too bad in a 1911.

We’ll see what all the fuss is about.
I have one in my Colt Rail gun. its nice. I REALLY like this Ronin.

I think it was C&S I dropped in my 2003 Springfield. Was a significant improvement, I'm sure a 'smith or I could work on it and make it better, but I liked it well enough I left it alone.

Well, turns out I have to chamfer the frame for their slide stop to work. I’m not chamfering the frame. And they sent some of the parts wrong. I guess they’ll get them back.

I was handling the gun just last night being pleased with how much the trigger has smoothed out and the creep is gone. I was thinking to myself, “What the heck am I trying to fix that ain’t broken?"
