I've grown tired of using my Pit Barrel Cooker, dealing with charcoal and the mess.
Couple of weeks ago finally decided on a new pellet smoker and went with the Grilla Silverback Alpha AT which has a more heavy duty cart and isn't an enclosed cabinet for wasps and other creatures to hide.

Sprung for the accessory pack and the front shelf, which honestly just should be included with the grill. Minor gripe.

Shipping wasn't too bad bad except the freight company refused to come up our driveway and took 4 extra days for them to come back with a driver who could drive.

Took me about 2 hours to assemble it solo. Would have been better to have someone help me hoist the barrel on to the cart...this thing is heavy. It's probably 200+ lbs before adding any pellets.

Did the required burn in for a hour at 450 like they recommend.

Put a couple of thick strip steaks on for test run...so we'll see.

Ive got a traeger, and some of it is built great, and some parts could be better, like my front shelf. It works good but looking for something better. I'll check this out. After I get my Blackstone first. 😉

Does it work with anything other than pellets? Whut happens if you run out of pellets?

Just pellets.

Next stop is Costco to stock up on Traeger pellets that are on sale and make some space to store a good quantity

Pellets and charcoal are like ammo. Always have more than you think you’ll need. I guess horsepower is also in this category.

Worst case you could always build a wood or charcoal fire in the box and cook over the coals.

and you need a generator to use it when the lights go out.

That was the only downside that I saw to the pit boss until it started fluctuating the temp too bad. I would do a pellet smoker again because I loved the way it cooked.

With a battery, a solar charger, and an inverter you can run when the power goes out.

Got a call today. A friend had three pallets of pellets. Each pallet had 16 bags, and each bag was 40lbs. These were factory defects, and free.

I got 16 today.
