New Ruger 9mm carbine.....

looks like the older PC9. what's the big difference? The magazines?

I want a Marlin camp 9 to go w my 3rd gen pistols.
Its a takedown that takes glock mags just for starters. Pic rail, ambi charging and ejection, flutes barrel. Lots of improvement to the PC9

I won't be buying one until the Gen 2 comes out that has all of the bullshit Ruger fixes for the problems that are sure to make the first gen a complete and utter turd.
I'm with you on that. GunBlast had reliability issues with his. My original PC9 Carbine has never experienced a malfunction with any type of ammo I've run through it. It's one of my favorite firearms.

Nice, I always wanted the Marlin Camp 9 when they were available.
I have the Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm, some say that is one ugly rifle.

Lusty but I'm with JRHorne, waiting at least until the seemingly inevitable recall is complete.
I just assume let the fan boys buy them, discover all of the problems, deal with sending them back to Ruger, and then let Ruger get the Gen 2 released. Hopefully they do it quicker than they did with the LCP. (which was what, 3-4 years?)

I need one of these! Always wanted one of the old Ruger 9mm carbines, or a Marlin Camp 9. I've already got an SR9 and 9c, and plenty of mags for both, so having a carbine that can use the same mag sounds like a winner to me!

I like it. Would it be a faux pas to hope for a M&P mag well!?

I was just looking at this very thing, read a couple of things saying that the Ruger mags and the M&P mags share some commonality and can use extended baseplates, I don't have a SR mag to compare it to, however it might work in it. If not its basically a 3D printer part away.

I might have to put off feeding my 10mm addiction to purchase one of these.
With some 33rd mags, a TLR and a HoloSun or PA Red Dot, seems like a perfect beside the bed gun.

Interesting.. if Ruger doesn't offer it, I bet someone out there will.

Man - I'm thinking hard about this one. If I can get a stock setup similar to my 10/22's this may be my new PCC for steel challenge. I'm so used to my 10/22's this would be awesome. +1 on waiting for the bugs to be worked out though. I'd also like to see a cheaper non-takedown version.

I was completely and utterly disinterested in this ugly gun.
Until it was said it takes 10/22 parts!

Kidd trigger....... game changer! Pretty affordable gun.
I'll wait to see if ZachAttack starts slaughtering people with it first! If that happens, I'm on it like a blue bonnet!

I really want to want one of these. I’ve been wanting to save up for a Scorpion, but think this >may< scratch the PCC itch.

I wouldn't be surprised if a Kidd trigger in this thing will make it a select fire gun.

Ugly.

Interchangeable mags is a good move, but that magwell is huge and as ugly as the rest of the gun.

I might tolerate all that if it was under 5 lbs or if it was .45acp.

By the time they get .45acp out I hope they’ll have the bugs out of it and there will be aftermarket stocks. Time to order the can for it.

I'd like to see a non-take down with a bull barrel set up for GLOCK mags... flutes suck...

Am I the only one that's noticed that the receiver portion/area looks just like a Remington 522 Viper .22 LR rifle from 20 years ago? I wonder if the designer of this PC Carbine had one and really liked the look of it. Google search this rifle and tell me if its just my imagination.

IMO a lot of the ugliness comes from the awkward looking Ruger pistol mag and over sized mag well. Can't find any pics with the G lock mag yet but it should look a little better.

All of you saying it's ugly, Magpul will help with that. The more important aspect is that the damn thing actually work!

I do like the idea of .45 with that threaded barrel...

It kinda looks like an unfinished design to me as far as the looks. But why would ruger waste time and making it look good when magpul is gonna make furniture for it.

It wouldn’t cost more to make it look good, the guys at Roger must just have poor taste while the guys at Magpul seem to have better taste.

Everything costs. Just the time to pay a guy to draw up ideas costs money. Sometimes i wonder why some companies sell furniture on their guns at all. Its just gonna wind up in a parts bin 10 minutes after the 4473 is done.

Just bumping around the Ruger website, I noticed the MSRP for the standard 10/22 is $309 while the Takedown 10/22 is $439.

The MSRP for the Takedown PC Carbine is $649. How much could Ruger cut the cost/price for a PC Carbine without the takedown feature?

If I had to guess, I think the design is intentional. It looks benign enough for the Fudds to appreciate, it doesn’t have a pistol grip or that thingy that goes up so the MOMS won’t feel triggered as much, and those of us who like to trick out our firearms will be able to do so pretty easily. So I’m thinking it was a good move on their part.

The model with a 10-round magazine and no threaded barrel can be sold in all 50 states and DC. Avoiding "assault weapons" bans is a big deal for over a fourth of the country's population in CA, CT, DC, MA, MD, NJ and NY.

A recall and a safety bulletin up top on the home page for the gun...
View attachment 34040

Those recalls are for the Precision Rifle and the Mark 4 pistols. There is no recall on the 9mm PC Carbine. Those recall banners show on all the pages on the Ruger site.

Thank you Captain Obvious. If you'd been following the thread, you'd have noticed I made several comments hinting at the likely forthcoming recalls of the PCC given Rugers track record. My picture post was to amplify the hilarity that is Ruger as of late.

Not sure how they could even have a recall or a safety bulletin for the PCC considering it hasn't even been released to the public yet. But hey, it's Ruger, I wouldn't put it passed them.
