Bought myself a Christmas gift.....I just had to have a handy little bolt rifle in this caliber. I own several AK's and SKS's so its a natural for me. Light weight and handy. I added a Vortex Crossfire II w/BDC Reticle 2-7x32 scope with Vortex rings and a muzzle break. Did some light sanding of the polymer stock to get some of the sharp edges smoothed. Its a little rough around the edges and a bolt polishing my be in order, but at the low price point it sells for I like it. One on the best things about this rifle is it uses Ruger Mini 30 mags so I have Ruger 20 and 10 round mags on the way. Hope to sight it in very soon, and will give a range report.

My dad is a 7.62x39 fanatic and has been wanting a bolt action for years.

He’s also a Ruger nut. Gonna buy him one this year

Can't wait to see your range report. Been eye balling one of them myself! I think thats a good choice on the optic.

Edit to add comment on optic.

I like the the caliber and have always been a fan of short bbl carbines but I think 16" is too short. I have 2 Remington 700SPS 20" carbines and they are about perfect.

I agree, and for the money I paid $114 shipped, its clear and well build and a perfect fit for this type rifle IMO.

I have the older model Frontier with a 16 inch barrel and fixed 4 power scope. That little package in 30 Russian is sweet. Enjoy!!!

I like how someone at Ruger is thinking about mag reusability. They're standardizing on existing stuff and (in their precision line and that new 9mm carbine) using mags from other manufacturers. It makes bringing something new into the fold super easy. Smart.

I just picked up one of these from Backwoods Bang Shop.

I got one back in December. How do you like yours so far? I mounted a 1-5x scope on mine but I'm planning to replace it with a M8 4x Leupold soon. With Wolf 154gr SP ammo mine shoots around 2" 100 yard groups but I've only ran a single 20 round box through it. I'm hoping to get it back out shooting soon and working up some subsonic loads also.

I just ordered the same rifle today from Buds! I am leaning towards a Nikon Monarch 3 in 1-4 x 20 with a German #4 reticle for the optics.
I like the look of that muzzy brake on your rifle! Could you share some info on it either on this thread or PM me.

I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet.

Let me know if you'd like to shoot them one day. I have plenty of Wolf 154gr SP ammo to shoot. My little CZ carbine shoots it better than any factory ammo I've tried in it.

I have 2 5rd mags for mine and I will get a 10rd mag when I run across one.

I already have a remmy in 300blkout and love to have a 7.62x39.......these rounds are perfect for around where I'm at, all shots under 150 yards and will take anything I will ever want to shot.
