New Rugers

That Security 9 fires without the mag? Hmm.
The EC9s has to be a new version of the LC9 series. Why is it better? Don't really get that..the LC9s is a pretty good piece. I don't know if I like the machined-into-the-slide sights. Guess that's not a deal breaker it's not a x-ring target gun.
I'll give em credit though. Ruger got some game and try's different stuff at good prices with a good track record of works as advertised.

MSRP is $479 for the LC9s and $299 for the EC9s. LC9s street prices are $250-ish and EC9s prices should settle around or below $200.

I have never thought much of the LC9s sights, so fixed sights would not be a problem for my use of the gun, which would make the lower EC9s price seem like a gift to me.

The EC9s seems to be another addition like the SR9e. Taking an existing model, stripping it down, and trying to compete with the S&W rebated models and probably the ridiculous Taurus prices.

I have an LC9s, and I added Williams FO sights (green front, red rear). It makes a world of difference daytime and low light.

Me likely both of those!! Always have been a Ruger fan, but my love of 10mm took me away from them. However, this may re-kindle my Rugeritis. They have a full-size 1911 in 10mm now, also. Probably never happen but I would LOVE to see a “Security 10”. An SR10 would suffice (build it off of their SR45 platform).

Never had any issues with any of my Ruger firearms
Looks like their price point will bring in a lot more customers

Dropping prices to blow out inventory before a new model is introduced is one thing, but it is entirely different to introduce a new model with the objective of undercutting prices for nearly the entire market.

I appreciate your thoughts on the Williams sights; I will be giving them a closer look.

Interesting.. the Security 9 is DAO.

Ruger generally makes great guns. I would like to see them de-FUDD (magazines disconnects, LCI's) some of their current offerings before offering yet another 9mm gun. Let's see... Security 9, SR9E, SR9, American 9, LC9, EC9. It seems like Ruger is Ruger's #1 competitor.

And while they are at it, how about an LC380S and/or some double stack, striker fired .380's just for kicks.

I think they did do all that with their LC9sPRO. Not sure about other models.

True they did, and with some of the American pistols. I think they turn a lot of people off with that all stuff. Personally I like a thumb safety and ambi controls, which they offer, but not without the other stuff as well.

The Security 9 has a 4" barrel and is 5" high. Budget Glock 19 contender? :D

Wish they'd release it without a safety if it's DAO.

The EC9S looks like the old LC9 with that miles-long trigger. I REALLY liked the SR9C & was hoping for a SR45C. I figure the new American Pistol line put the ki-bosh on that, but would really like to test drive the compact .45.

fwiw, the LC9s striker trigger is surprisingly really really good. The EC9s appears to be the same. You really need to try it, way different than the old crap.

Same experience here. My buddy has the old version and they are night and day

Got our hands on the Security 9 today.
My unprofessional impressions:
Felt good in the hand, felt lighter than it looks, due to aluminum frame I guess...duh.
Easy to rack the slide. Trigger felt good, not much take-up, pretty crisp break, reset seemed a lil long.
Rear sight would take some getting used to as the white line on three sides made me want to focus on that.
Easy for me to pull the take down pin with my thumbnail. Counter guy could not.
Not ambi. Mag released no probs.
4" barrel, 15+1...I like it. Priced at $310.
Wife wants to shoot it. Yea....add another one in the mix.

Ruger just seems to be knockin' it outta the park lately, IMO. I just noticed they're doing 10mm 1911s & even a 9mm light weight OACP version. Not interested in a 10mm, unless it grows a 6" slide & barrel, but may have to give that little OACP model a look-see. This, of course, after I was thinking about maybe trying out a compact .45ACP American Pistol as a replacement for my EDC G26.

I'm a revolver guy at heart, though & was drooling over the TALO 6" GP-100 (for conversion to .41 Special) already, then they dropped the 5.5" .357 Redhawk. Got to shoot a bud's GP-100 Match Champion at New Year's & loved it, so was thinkin' the GP-100's next. But, no.... Ruger did an uncatalogued run of stainless .41Mag Blackhawks.

Those of you who know me can probably guess which gun will be shortly enroute to Alamance County ;)

I will, trust me. Just not this go 'round. Lol! Clements won't convert TALO's Wiley Clapp or Match Champion to .41 Special, due to a tapered cylinder making them too thin at the front, so I need to find out if the unfluted cylinder is GTG. I'm wanting the .41 conversion, with their Tune-up package & erase the billboard in satin brushed. I am also a .357 fan, so it won't break my heart to shoot the hell out of it as a .357. A 6" full lug GP-100 is the perfect heft & balance for a DA revolver.

Nope , bought an EC9s last week. It’s basically an LC9s with sights built into the slide and a slightly less nice finish. Internally, trigger everything else seem to be the same. I bought it as a companion to my LC9S.

Picked up my stainless, 6.5" .41Mag Blackhawk on the way home from work. Beautiful gun, very nice fit & finish, smooth action & nice trigger. Typical Ruger grip fit, tho. Fortunately for me, I just don't like Ruger's plow-handle grips & a set of smooth, slim panel Altamonts in "Silverblack" should be here any day now. Can't wait to hit the range & shoot 'er side by side with my other stainless .41s- a 5.5" Bisley Blackhawk & a 7.5" Bisley Super Blackhawk Hunter.

Ruger's obviously already been getting a good chunk of my money for a while, but they have definitely upped their game.

I got a mold in for the Security 9 the other day. I really like the feel of the gun. Would like to get my hands on the real thing.

And saw a GP100 match champion, oh my what a trigger. And the 8 shot Redhawk feels nice too. The cylinder on that thing is massive.

I've heard tell Ruger pays extra attention to "specials" & this gun is flawless. Smooth action & very nice trigger. Fit & finish are flawless. Big thumbs up to Altamont on their slim panel grips. My 2nd set of grips from them & perfect both times.

I fondled a Security 9mm today and for a $300 gun I was impressed. The trigger was not excellent but certainly shootable. It felt good in the hand. The sights were OK. The real minus is that night sights will cost you $75 for just the front. Hopefully there will be some other options soon. If you could get it with a night sight front dot for $350 it would be the ultimate truck gun IMHO.

I think the EC9S is a hell of a bargain. I love my LC9s & for my purposes, the sights on the EC9S would work just as well. I don't particularly like striker fired triggers, but Ruger gets it right, IMO.

Still off topic maybe..I got my EC9S for $230 out the door. The machined in sights are right on. I bought it for a range gun, but I like it so much I got a IWB for it and carry it every day.
The only thing that's weird about it is the difference in the trigger from the first shot to the second. You really can't beat it for the price.
