I am just getting prepared to start loading for 300 Blackout. I'm hoping to glean from your experience some loads that are working for you.

I'll be starting with these bullets:
Hornady Sub-X 190 grain
Hornady 150 grain interlock
Hornady SST 125 grain
Sierra Match King 125 grain polymer tipped
Speer 170 grain Hot Core sp
170 grain cast lead rfgc

These are going to be used in a 10.5" AR pistol suppressed or open.
Thanks in advance!

I also have various 165/168 gr. Boat Tail Hunting bullets I use mainly in my bolt action rifle, but don't plan to use in the AR unless convinced otherwise.

I wouldn't waste time with the 150s. They aren't as fast as the 110s/125s, and they're not subsonic...IE pretty much useless IMO.

I would definitely experiment more with the 110gr pills in a 10.5" barrel. I have lost 2 deer with 125s not expanding out of an 8.5" pistol barrel. The 110 Barnes lays em flat.

I have 8.5 & 10.5” pistols, have loaded 110, 125, 147/150, 200, 208, 220’s. The mid-weight bullets don’t make a whole lot of sense unless for plinking since their velocity is too low for optimal ballistics and too light for subs, so I stick with 110 (SD/HD), 125 (plinking), 200/220 (subs).

H110/W296 does great for the supers, 1680 for subs. I have some 4227 for supers but haven’t tried it yet.

Edit: I was too slow typing, @Ikarus1 said the same thing haha

Do you prefer the TTSX or TSX Barnes?

98% sure he meant TTSX. The poly tip Barnes 110gr TTSX billet or Tac-TX ammo is one of the best 300 bullets.

You might need a lot of experimenting with the Sub-X, took me a long time to get a consistent 1050FPS.

Runs/functions in an AR?

10.8 to 11.1 ish 1680 runs fine. What may not is the feed ramps. I filed the fknout of mine as well as seating the bullet a little deeper than I would for a typical pointy projectile. Seems it needs a touch more up angle before striking the ramp.

And while we are on the subject, what the flip is up with them using .223 ramps for a 30 caliber bullet?
