New to blood presure meds

I abandoned all BP meds and heart meds as soon as I dared. The only med with about any proven science behind it is aspirin. And that study was done with a full dose a day. Not the 81g baby aspirin Drs suggest. They went to the 81g thing because some people get ulcers with a daily aspirin. So Drs aren't even following the actual study. Most of what is out there on hearts and heart meds is bunk. Eat as well as you can and move your body.

I'm about 6' and 162lbs. No weight to lose.
Do you regularly exercise? Weights and intense aerobics can help.
My wife was on L for over a decade for her kidneys. But she developed another autoimmune condition in her lungs, not caused by L, but L can make worse.

I have a bunch of studies that say otherwise. Now if you want to discuss the assertion to some meds (specifically cholesterol meds), I am all ears: that stuff has changed so much in the past 25 years it's crazy. But the anti-hypertensives, diuretics, and anti-dysrhythmics, the science is pretty sound. But, research is always going on, so things change.

First, I hate meds. I hate taking meds. I hate when people go on meds. I think for most meds, if people can get off them at some point, they should.

Second, it IS true that the 81 mg is more GI protective; plus, the half-life is shorter. People confuse it with being a blood thinner, and it's not. It's mechanism is totally different. Plus, there's about 50 other things for which ASA is beneficial; it's a great medication for those who can take it. The dosing is weird because it's a conversion from grains, a holdover from ye olden days. 325 is such an arbitrary number, but even the low dosing there's virtually no difference between 75 mg and 81 mg.

As for eating well and moving, this would cure so many ills it's not funny....

I am going by my reading and Dr. Patel’s comments during my visits to your fine establishment.
 
Thanks for your replies. If I don't start feeling better in a couple weeks, I'm just going to up
my life insurance, and take my chances without it.:(
Basil I was on this for a couple years at a low dose. I started taking a 30 minute walk daily and the doc told me I could try and cut it out if I felt ok and the numbers were good. That was about 6 months ago and I feel much better and no lisinopril or elevated BP. That walk is magic!

I finally got it out of my system, so I feel much better. And have started walking my stairs.
I do 20-24 round trips at a fair pace. And some stationary bike time. I hope it helps.
