New to me 1911

Picked up this Sig Sauer 1911 in a trade, pretty cool! From what I found via google and talking to some military buffs, the motto and horse on the top of the slide is from the 8th PsyOps Regiment.

More than likely it was a member of hat unit who bought the pistol on deployment. A lot of units do a unit group buy type of thing and get them engraved. Sigs are usually the brand that gets picked. They prob have some sort of arrangement with the military for this program.

I picked up a paraordnance model that was engraved for the 82nd after one of the Iraqi tours. It was pretty beat up but interesting pawn shop find.

Do you know if these are the original grips? The guy I got it from really didn’t know anything about it.

No, they aren't original. They look like VZ grips. My recollection is it had black grips originally. It was several years ago that I owned it - maybe 2014ish?

Yep, looked at the 2013 Sig catalog, the 1911 XO’s originally had a set of black Ergo XT’s.
