Bought a Remington 700 in 300blk from another member.

Verified the barrel is 1:7 twist. So now to figure out what scope and work out some loads.

Congrats.

I built one from a 700 stripped receiver and AAC model 7 16" light barrel ($99) over the winter and used parts and pieces in the junk box to finish it off. I've named it "Junk box" since it has a used Hogue stock, used timney trigger, and rings (which are too high but I'm too cheap to get new lower rings) and a scope from a previous build. I did put on a Legacy Sports bottom mag kit ($70). It works ok with the 300blk but still tweaking it some for the fat bullets. With a can it is pretty quiet. That 1:7 is best for the heavier bullets.

For a scope, Burris C4 3x9 with target dials has worked for me and recommend one with graduations on the reticle. I can zero it in for subs but also know where to aim quickly if using supers.

I bought Milky’s 700, lol.

Haha yea that was my thinking too. Gotta save a bunch of pennies first though. Watched a bunch of videos on youtube, but becareful you'll then want IR. Lol

I put my Vortex 4-12 Crossfire 2 BDC on this rifle.

I am going to go with a 50 yard 0 for the Subs, since the point of the gun is a for 200 and under hunting rifle.

I need to figure out the BDC markings for it.

I have the Ruger bolt action in 300blk also with 1/7 twist. I get about 2 moa with standard Remington factory supers, a little less with subs. I've been trying to work up loads for it but have not been able to stick with it. It's been too damn hot this summer to want to be outside, even shooting.

One thing I plan on trying is faster powder for subs. They typically use AA1680 or similar to generate enough pressure late in the combustion cycle to run an AR15. That is not ideal for suppression, so since we don't need to worry about that with bolt actions we can use a faster powder with less pressure remaining as the bullet exits the barrel. Unique was recommended.

For optics I chose the Bushnell Engage 4-12x, primarily for the very precise moa reticle since I expect to be doing a lot of hold over with subs. These are medium priced scopes (this one is on the low end, being one of the non-tactical models). The turrets are kinda mushy but the reticle is to die for and glass is nice and bright.

Mine is topped with the Nikon 300blk scope 2-7x32 scope, loves 125gr ballistic tips over w296 powder.

Mine doesn't like subs so much, or I haven't found the right combo.....
