Next Bike ?

Looks good, real sharp looking.
Im really curious to see what the new HDs are like that they previewed a few months ago

Love the hooligan.
Not feeling the pipe though. That'd be the first thing to go. Second would be that rear fender-thing in favor of some kind of tidy tail.
Little bit of suspension work and some stickies and start cuttin heads.
Streetfighters are fun as hell. They'll get you arrested, but even the cop will admit that was a pretty good wheelie.

I could see it as a fun second bike but not so much for long distance riding.

It's a cool bike. I am still surprised they are bringing it to market.

Would love to won one!

I've never ridden either, it's going to look good on you!

That’s not to bad looking for an Indian. Since Polaris brought the name back I’m not the biggest fan of their styling.

Oh I agree, that pipe is butt ugly. But already there are some pipe manufactures making some flat track looking pipes for it already.. That lil rear fender would be taken off before the bike left the dealership parking lot..

If I were to get a second bike it would be between this and the HD Streetfighter. Granted I don't have high hopes that the HD is going to come out at a reasonable price...
Im liking the streetfighter also, but with a scheduled release date of 2021 ? That's a big of a long time to wait for me..

Looks like Indian is trying to make a Buell.
Oh yeah, I had one of those.. Had the X-1 back a while ago, mine was in Red, all the alum high polish with jet hot coated exhaust. Was the best looking bike I ever had, Loved just looking at it. Had some engine upgrades like heads and cams with the race ECM. Unfortunately, after the shine wore off I realized that I hated riding it.. It didn't last long here in my garage.

Unfortunately, it's gov't regulation that drive muffler and license plate location design, not designers. It is a challenge to find any OEM bike that has a good looking rear fender and good looking exhaust.

Here's bike it was based on:

^^I remember those flat-track pipes from the old days. What were those Harleys..XR750's...they all had it.
Look cool, hideous in real life. The race guys were only on the bike for like 8 minutes so it was tolerable. You could make it out of Carbon and that would help and look uber-cool. But still no matter what you do it's gonna be hot as fak. I grew up on the 2 Stroke enduro's and they all used them big-ass upswept pipes that ran right up against the thighballs. Hot as fak.

I much prefer the low, as pictured here on my SuperDuke. (well not really mine but that's what I say in my safe space)

@Lager have you thought about a Superduke? I hate to sound like a KTM salesman, but I do because I am. I'd bet you're in the same price range as that Indian..Superdukes run right at 20K. What's msrp on these Indians?
The SD is widely acknowledged as king of the streetfighters though. It kills superbikes for giggles.

I like that Indian. If I had not bought a bike last year I might have to check it out, thank god I did because I am sure it cost more than my Suzuki.

This is just a prototype but I'm excited about it.

I managed to drive one of the mega KTMs... that bike was so awesome it tried to get away from me every chance. 170HP? nuts....the owner is still in recovery as we speak..

that injun looks a bit better behaved....enjoy it lager... I just sold my 2002 BMW R1150TR-P yesterday..... =0(

LOL,, Absolutely NOT !!! Dude,, Im 61 years old, Im going for looks and short rides now days..Last sport bike I had was about 10 years ago, CBR 1000...…….Only had it at full throttle one time, I swear it took 5 years off of my life. Then graduated to the ST-1300 ( best bike for me) then a few others ,finally a Wing that I didn't think I was going to like but did.

If Harley doesn't start paying closer attention to what Indian's doing, it's gonna bite 'em in the ass. That new Indian is hawt & bet it's a killer hooligan bike. My personal preference is for the Scout Bobber, but that FTR is bad ass.

Indian beats HD on price across the board.
HD seems to think the name alone is worth the premium.
I like the looks of the FXDR114 and the Fatbob114. But I'd probably buy a Scout Bobber instead. Maybe if I won the lottery I'd get an HD.
But the Scout Bobber is much easier in the budget and has good performance reviews.

Haha I get it. It's the same with me and the dirt bikes. The young guys can have them now.
I like my Goldwing. It handles far better than it's size. I tell the young hotshots to beware of the old man on the Goldwing, that ain't his first bike.

My favorite bike here is the DRZ 400 SM. Just a great bike for mountain twisties and trails and railroad-track jumpin'.
Supermoto bikes are the roller coaster of street bikes. You don't have to have a purpose or a destiny, just go out and play. Streetfighters share the same attitude.

Ive always been a harley guy, got 10342 shirts, vests, jackets... you name it. Started out on a 2012 sportster 72, then a semi custom 08 nightster i built., then got my first dyna, then another, then another. I was hooked on them. Wouldnt ride anything but a harley.
Had a car pull out infront of me in 2015, hit the side of it at 45 mph or so, walked away with minor scrapes. Bought another street bob, sold it few months later, was still too nervous after the wreck to enjoy riding. I love HD but hated the expense of EVERYTHING with its name on it. Its not worth it honestly, but its the bike/style i like.

Now, with 2 kids, riding seems a little less desirable after everyday of seeing idiots in cars. I do find myself looking for another bike, something to cruise on for MPG and just to commute. The wife hates it but ill probably get one next year.

Looking at the Honda NC750x. I like the looks, the features it has and 75-80 mpg would be sweet!

with all the distracted idiots on the road, I prefer the presence of the bigger Goldwing types... put 12 extra lights on it, they just might notice you..

.perhaps we shall have a nice ride sometime...

Too funny, you and I think alike... I quit racing dirt bikes at about the 45 year old age mark.. at about 35 I quit motocross and went with enduros using KTM's. But had to quit when my daughter was killed leaving me with 3 grandkids to raise. I can justify street bikes since they are transportation, but dirt bikes are truly a luxury and I still miss it.. Im still in good enough shape to complete an endure, Im NOT going to win but I will be the guy with the biggest smile on his face at the finish line..

If I remember correctly, I bought my first Harley in 1978, it was a 1950 Panhead. Complete custom, all chrome with a springer front end/z bars and king and queen seat. Hand shift/foot clutch makes a bad combo, but that's the way it was..Then in 1979 a 1973 right side shift Sportster..I was an instructor at American Motorcycle Institute in Daytona Beach Florida at the time. Turned the sports into a fast bike ( at that time) with lots of mods, then a car pulled out in front me and I couldn't stop or swerve out of the way. That's when I switched to metric bikes and ever since then, I learned that riding street is like going to a gun fight. Riding a Harley is like going to that gunfight armed with a knife, you might look good with that knife in your hand, but your going to eventually going to wish you had a gun.. Think your going to be happy with the NC 750 and I commend you on getting back in the saddle... Safe riding friend..

If your thinking about an Indian, please consider the Concord Ride Now store.. If you decide to go there, ask for a guy by the name of JT, hes a very good friend of mine . While he does not work in sales, but in service, just give him my name ,Paul Connor and he will steer you in the right direction..

It will be a while unless we hit the lottery.
Got huge Obamacare debt from the last 5 years. Plus I'm spending too much time in China. Not with 12 months of payments for only a few months of use. This year, my total home time will be <3 months.

I'm 2nd generation scooter trash & bleed black 'n orange, but the damned MoCo is their own worst enemy. I'm diggin' on the Pan America a whole bunch & if they can come in at Suzuki V-Strom 1000 money & horsepower (~$12K & ~100hp), it'll be a huge hit for 'em. Not holdin' my breath, though. They might hit one of those numbers, but knowing HD, there's no way in hell they'll hit both of 'em.

I recently gave up the crotch rocket and went retro...

I so want one of those. I miss my '05 ZRX1200R, even though it tried to kill me on a regular basis. Not sure the Z900RS would get me into any less trouble, though.

I've been hankering for a next bike for a while; something all-day/all-season comfortable, and low-maintenance. Still needs to have enough power, character, and handling to be fun, even if it's not really fast. My 990Adv is a great bike that's a lot of fun, but it's not an all-day bike for me. It has a lot of the edgy personality of a race bike.

I've been riding for a long time, but had never ridden a Harley before. No hate for any brand; but for a lot of years, H-D never made anything that suited the way I like to ride. In the last few years, my riding has changed, and I avoided riding one because I was pretty sure I was going to like it. And not just Harleys, but any brand cruiser/bagger.

I went to a Harley demo event Sunday in Hickory, and rode a Street Glide Special and a Heritage Classic back-to-back. Was very impressed with both bikes. Both were very well-balanced, very nice rides; but the new Softail platform is definitely head-and-shoulders above the Touring platform for ride and handling. I really can't criticize anything about the Heritage Classic from an engine performance or ride/handling standpoint. The HC is just about tossable, not feeling like a 700 pound bike; and the 107 that I rode felt stronger than the 114 in the SG, most likely from the lower weight of the bike, although both bikes had plenty of get-up-and-go. I imagine the Heritage w/ the 114 is a real hoot. The new M8 is a really nice engine, but I can't compare it to previous H-D engines because these two are the only ones I've ever ridden.

My main issue with the bikes was about me, not the bikes. I'm 6'4" with an inseam just shy of 36", so both bikes were cramped for me, especially the Street Glide. The Heritage is much roomier, but still needs help. A tallboy seat would help, but.....

.....it would take a lot of mods to make either of the H-D's fit me as well as the Indian Chieftain Limited I rode a few weeks ago. It fit me extremely well bone-stock, and the extended-reach seat available for it would give me another 2" of room. Also, the ride and handling were excellent, much more like the Heritage Classic than the Street Glide. I would need to ride the Chieftain and the HC back-to-back to be able to tell you which one has the better suspension, and I may be able to do so this Saturday.

Since I was determined to try out the bagger thing, I went to demo a BMW K1600B for completeness' sake, since it has a bagger-ish riding position. It was the most cramped bike I've demoed, even with my feet forward on the boards, although everything else about the bike was great. The dealership owner was leading me on the demo ride, and offered to swap bikes with me if I wanted to try the K1600GT he was riding. Sure, I'd be silly not to try it.

Oh. My. Goodness. I've never been so immediately comfortable on a bike. The riding position was natural and neutral, and everything else about the bike was fantastic. Of course the engine was great - how could it not be - but the ride quality and handling were outstanding, and all the gadgetry was very well thought-out and easy to use, and useful. It's the antithesis of the type of bike I'm trying to adopt, but it might derail my bagger quest. Maybe I'm just not a cruiser guy. Not sure I'm ready for the BMW motorcycle ownership experience, but riding them is fantastic.

Sorry for the long post.

I added a small windscreen. Oh and for those inquiring minds .... with 111 hp she rolls out!! Kawasaki did their first ever "sound tuned exhaust" that is the best sounding stock exhaust I've heard. It has a deep growl down low and sounds like all hell breaking loose when a second passage opens at 7k rpm.

Man I would love a duke with a pipe werks pipe on it.

My next bike is gonna be something I can ride in all types of weather anytime of the year and not be overly worried.

Think a V-strom or a KLR
