What ever happened to all of the NFA repeal talk after the election? Was it just that, all talk? Smoke up the a@#? I'd like to go full auto, but no way have the extremely excessive amount of cash to do so. And, I am a law abiding citizen, so just making one is out. I know I signed a petition and never heard any more about it.

Don’t hold you breathe. And as I recall, it wasn’t a true repeal, rather a delisting of suppressors.

The HPA. Hearing Protection Act. Was only going to remove silencers from the NFA...not repeal the NFA.

The HPA wording was actually added to the SHARE (Sportsmen's Heritage And Recreational Enhancement) Act...which conveniently has gone nowhere since there's seems to be "mass shooting" every time it gains momentum and no politician will then touch it with a 50' pole.

Repubs lack teeth, politicians lack the ability to keep their word.

Maybe we need to strike a deal with the dems. We will vote for them if they drop the assault on the 2nd A. At least they have some teeth and backbone unlike the Repubs.

Nice idea, but you think they can be trusted too?
I wouldnt trust them, at least right now and how things are

That's a much faster way to become Venezuela. Our dear leaders driving us straight into, "You didn't build that", "You didn't earn that", and "Gibs me dat". Marx, Lenin and Mao would be proud.

What happened?

The GOP won the Presidency and still retained control of both houses of Congress. What happened is they don’t need your votes until the upcoming cycle....when no doubt the same carrot will be dangled out there again.

So they’ll blame their failures on the Democrats, but super extra pinky promise that if you keep them in power, they’ll make all your dreams come true.

I just don't understand the ban on full auto ownership for those of us that are monetarily challenged. If I had 40K to blow, oh, that's fine, you can buy one with a small tax and a background check. But cant buy a parts kit, rebuild it, register it, pay a tax and have the background check. It's monetary racism. Pure and simple. The banning of future FA firearms in 86 was pure and utter bulls$@t!!! I love Reagan, but that bill he signed into law was one of the 2 things I hate him for.

HPA got killed by the Vegas and Florida school shootings. It became politically impossible to pass.

All it took was the one tweet from Hillary... she said

"The crowd (in Las Vegas) fled at the sound of gunshots. Imagine the deaths if the shooter had a silencer ..."

The Clintons killed that too...

My first thought is why? Just because a group of ignorant people don't want it passed is no reason for clear thinking representatives not to act on it. I blame it on the R's lack of any balls or integrity.

My other thought was those shootings were awful well timed huh?

It’s because they have balls buried in their integrity.....

and just like national reciprocity even all GUN OWNERS cant get behind it to much of the I don't need or want it attitude

Republicans don’t want to help anyone. Divide and conquer. Solve problems and there is nothing to work with. The hearing protection act was a simple step. It should have been sold as a health issue. And it is a health issue.

I say we play king of the hill. Knock the politicians down and run things ourselves since they obviously do not represent us and never will.

Because the R's have no balls and the D's are milking the #metoo for votes right now.

Uh yeah. I'm sure that would work out just like you think it will.

I can see it now. "Gun owners for Pelosi" It will finally put paid to that weak as water NRA organization.

You better grab that web address while it is still available.

What happened is that Republicans have zero spine and there isn’t enough true conservatives that matter.

I see my possible relative has stepped up. :D

The Hearing Protection Act has been reintroduced to Congress by Rep. Jeff Duncan of South Carolina. The American Suppressor Association describe the Hearing Protection Act (HPA) of 2019 as “an enhanced version of previous” legislation introduced to Congress in 2015.

The HPA (2019) was introduced on the first day of the 116th Congress by Rep. Duncan who said:

previous legislation was introduced by Arizona’s Rep. Matt Salmon, who has since retired from politics. In January 2017, Rep. Duncan and Rep. John Carter co-sponsored the reintroduction of the ‘Duncan-Carter Hearing Protection Act of 2017 (H.R. 367)’.

In a press release Knox Williams, President and Executive Director of the American Suppressor Association (ASA), said that the ASA believes:

that citizens should not have to pay a tax to protect their hearing while exercising their Second Amendment rights. With anti-suppressor legislators now in control of the House, the path to passage of the HPA is now exponentially harder than it was before. It may take years, but we at ASA, along with Rep. Duncan and his tremendous staff, will not stop working until we get suppressors out of NFA where they belong.

The ASA explains that HPA (2019) broadly seeks equal treatment of suppressors and firearms and aims to:

remove suppressors from the onerous requirements of the NFA, and instead require purchasers to pass an instant NICS check, the same background check that is used during the sale of long guns. In doing so, law-abiding citizens will remain free to purchase suppressors, while prohibited persons will continue to be barred from purchasing or possessing these accessories.

The bill has not yet been registered on Congress’ online archive but you can read the bill in full here.

The Democrats are against the HPA simply because some Republicans are for it. Normally, Democrats would flock to support the HPA because it is like the laws in so many of their beloved European socialist countries.

"What ever happened to all of the NFA repeal talk after the election?"
it's dead. Federal Red Flag laws will be introduced with RINO support.
