I was talking to an old timer with 40+ years as an Leo he said the one tool he missed was his blackjack/slap jack smacked thingy. He said it didn't matter how big they were they just fell.

Works most of the time except for those few likened to Rodney King. Years ago a wooden nightstick was the beatdown weapon of choice when it was drilled out hollow and lead poured in it's place. By the third lick you were bleeding out the ears from a cracked skull. Most of the humane officers back then beat you on the back of the legs but continue to resist and the blows became more severe and plentiful. Most folks back then were very quick and courteous with their replies to LEO officers.
