Last September I bought two 3x9-40 buckmaster scopes. Natchez was blowing out reconditioned models for $79, these scopes were usually $119.
One of them got put on top of a 100 yard AR10. It maybe had 250 rounds through it when recently an o-ring around the objective lens was coming out. First problem I've ever had with a Nikon scope.

Natchez and Nikon made it clear that there was only a 90 day warranty on these reconditioned models. So I go through Nikon's online RMA setup and send it in, wondering how much it was gonna cost to fix it. About a week later I get a letter telling me to go to the website and approve or decline the repair cost.
So I do, and the repair cost is listed at $0.

They tuned it up, cleaned it all up, and repaired that o-ring for free, and had it back to me, (from California) within 2 weeks from when I sent it in.

That was pretty good. I'm impressed with that.

I put two of them on a pair of ARs I built recently so that makes me feel good!

I had a Nikon bad from the get go......Midway took care of it, but Nikon said send it back too. Both Manufacturer and retailer were willing to step up.

As it's not enough to prep a scope for return, glad they took care of the scope for you at No Charge.

Many, Many years ago I ( unknowingly ) bought a BSA that was reconditioned.
The scope ended up fogging & I sent it in only to told it's not covered because it's a "B Stock" or reconditioned.
BSA offered to sell me another scope below wholesale and ended up "Up Selling" me to the next higher level scope~s.
Not counting buying the scope in the first place, the whole thing cost bout a buck twenty something.
I ended up selling the (costly ) replacement ( NIB ) for 75 bucks, yes a loss.
I will not use BSA anymore.
Fact , there are many manufactures that I won't use anymore.

Running glass on a Winnie 300 & Fals one learns somewhat or real fast what scopes hold up as I've had several turn into a "Kaleidoscope" while using the scope~s.

Recently I was talking with another "Brother In Arms" concerning what glass to put on a FAL because he's TRASHED Leupolds on it.

Bottom line, I've asked several manufactures through the years about their warranty polices and on the question of " Reconditioned" product, "if you guys fixed it shouldn't be like New?????? So why the "Tail Light Guarantee?"

Safe Shooting

Had a nice 6-18x40 Buckmaster break internally. Nikon replaced it with a Prostaff 5 that i promptly broke the windage knob on. Just sent it back. Will see what happens.

Jimmy, Keep me posted. I have done freelance work with Nikon for almost 10 years now and I will be happy to help you out if needed. A few years ago Nikon revamped their CS department and I must say things seem to be running smoother. Truly not a lot of scopes go down. In the years I have been doing shooting event's with Nikon we have used 1000's and I can't recall even 1 going down in what would be more than a lifetime of shooting in a weekend. Again, keep me posted and let me know if there's anything I can do to help you out.

Thanks bman! The worst case scenario is that they will charge me for the repair. I broke it because i didnt know the turrets pulled up to set zero. Dope! The Buckmasters were nice scopes for the money and the ProStaff 5 and 7 are even nicer. Could see a 1000 in my future.

I am happy to help out anyone with Nikon question's or CS issues. That BLACK series mount is a heck of a mount even without getting it for free when you buy a BLACK FX1000 scope. Awesome turrets, new reticle design and First Focal Plane.
