Well, it's November, and I guess there wasn't a spot for me at the Wagram range. October is when they see what openings there are.
I'm sad, but maybe they'll get me in next year. In the meantime, I'll go to Jim's in Fayetteville. It's close, it's all good.

Good luck.

I belong to a local club and it’s 24-26 minutes away.

But I have also set up my own range at home, too.

Is Wagram the only option? My geography down that way isn't great, but isn't Moore Wildlife club fairly close?

I feel for you. Back in NJ (a very anti-2A state) I had my choice of outdoor ranges both public and private within a 45 minute drive. Now here in SC, Palmetto Gun Club seems like the only reasonably close option (unless I am missing something), but they're currently at capacity and who knows how long the waiting list is. So for me it's either the indoor ranges or Twin Ponds.

Hmmm ... who wants to invest in some property ... ;)

Yeah, It might come to that!
But Fayetteville's close and it's not a problem.

I'm sure there are others close, but Jim's is the closest. I'll see about the Moore options since I used to go to school there and regularly go to Aberdeen.

Well, close enough that I've seen a sign for Ellerbe! Which must be semi-close, as I never go far from home! Lol. I've looked the Hunter place up before, but forget how much of a drive it is.n But, hey,
I've ventured to TSA in/near Raleigh, so who knows where I might end up next, right? (Though I have to say, I'm not fond of the drive there.) As the weather gets cooler, I'll be happier at Jim's...it was pretty hot there today.....it's a good place, and the people are nice.

@Millie

Did somebody from Wagram contact you and say there were no openings? If not, they may have just not gotten around to contacting you yet. If they have not contacted you, maybe you should contact them.

I haven't heard anything, but I'm going to text the guy Monday and ask. Then one day I might go to the gun shop up the road and see what they can tell me about the range, like how many members there are, and how long the wait is on average.
It's odd, because I don't hear lots of shooting like I have in past years. At one point I was thinking there wasn't a range any more....but the last year or so I've been hearing shots, just not like there used to be.

Looks like Ellerbie range is about 36 miles from Wagram.

I can't believe that there isn't someone at the local gunshop that can't help you out? Its pretty rural around there and someone nearby is bound to have a place to do some plinking.

I'm going there next week and see what I can find out. It might be that they don't think women are really serious about shooting. The first NC gun I got was from there, and I ended up with one that was wrong for me. I freely admit to my fault in this, because I didn't do much research, and I let the guy sell me an UltraLite (without firing it first!), and some "less recoil" rounds! Imagine my shock and awe on my first shot for my CC class when that revolver hurt my hand! And I'd been warned by some here NOT to shoot that gun for the class, to borrow a .22....but did I listen?? No. I did not...stubborn!
So not to lay the blame on the gun store, it just might be that they don't really know that some women need a "heavier" gun. Maybe some guys with strong hands would be fine with my revolver, but I got a big bruise, then had to shoot it some more....lucky I brought the KelTec along and was allowed to shoot the last half of the rounds with that.
Anyway, yes, I'll ask some questions there, because somebody must know something! There's lots of woods here.

My wife carries a S&W .38 that is an Ultralite. Very easy to carry and conceal but a bit nasty to plink with. She has a Ruger Stainless SP101 in .357 mag too. A bit heavy but with 38's it's very nice to shoot.

I haven't received my new card yet so they might be running slow. I have a good friend at the Ellerbe(John Lentz) range, would go it to long before anything in fayette'nam. They were open 9am-4pm on Tuesday-Saturday.

The Moore Co range is a little better than Wagram but has more members also. https://www.mcwcc.org/

Thanks, I'll just wait and see what happens! If I don't hear anything, I'll text the guy in the summer to remind him I'd still like to be on the list.
I do plan on checking out other ranges if possible, but Jim's is the next closest to me, and I've found the people very nice. While I'm not a big fan of the city, the range has been convenient(ish) for me.

The heaviness is the best thing about the Sig, to me! It's so comfortable...and I've gotten used to carrying it now, over the much lighter KelTec.

to bad you are not closer to the OBX we would welcome you as a member of the OBXGC and a $50.00 a year its a great deal

That's an incredible deal. I miss being near the ocean, though not in bad storms.

Go to Midsouth gun store in Wagram. Ask for Philip, the owner. Tell him of your plight. I'm thinking he can solve your problem. What's the harm in trying?
I'm actually planning to go there! I was going to ask questions and see what the deal is with the range.
I'll ask for Philip, thanks! No harm in trying....

Mid South guns? That's a great store.

Lots of rifles!

Got my first NC gun there.
PS The sign on the front fell off in the storm, so don't think the store is gone!

If you ever get to the northeastern NC OBX let me know and I will happily take you to the range and let you shoot many different guns I know the 22TCM will make you grin BIG FIREBALL and lots of noise with no recoil

Sounds great! I like fire! Actually just went looking at guns here in town and held a very heavy target .22, forgot the make. Way too heavy to hold up for long though. Also found a 9mm I might be able to deal with, provided I can shoot one first. (Not buying any guns unless I shoot one of them first.)

Millie check out the Ruger SR9c my daughters love it the 22tcm is a full size 1911 with almost a short .223 Ar-15 bullet leaving the barrel at 2100 fps

I'll add to the list...I do lots of lists from here! LOL. But it's going to be awhile before I buy another gun. Need to spend some $ on more training and more range sessions. If I'm going to carry a gun, I need to be good with it.

I went to the store today and found Philip. He gave me the number of the new head guy of the range, and said I should call him, but I don't want to bug them and make them decide they don't want me as a member. Also held more guns! Looked at rifles too.

So, after you went and he tried to help you, you decided NOT to follow his advice? WOW! I knew I shoulda left this keyboard alone...

No, I didn't say I'm not calling the guy, just that I didn't want to be a pest!! Lol....also, I don't want the membership guy to think I'm making an end run around him and going over his head. I'm trying to go thru channels, like a good girl, but I'll call the guy. Don't want you to have to stay off the keyboard!
