I've noted with some glee that many of the post Y2K and 9/11 web sites are ramping up again. It's the cycle of generational education. People that were a little older with more experience in surviving bull shit of their generation tried to pass on that knowledge to others. With each SmightHTF episode many of the people that learned from their elders started backing off. Cycle repeats for next episode. Normalcy Bias ensues until the next cycle.

For whatever reason, this cycle is different. It all started with toilet paper of all things. It had to be a bunch of preppers trying to top off their stash. Then, regular folks saw that there wasn't much toilet paper left and they started buying it all up.

1998-Y2K swords held high,
2000-swords lowered, lots of good stuff could be had for cheap to be sold later at a premium

9/11-SHTF and the swords held high again, Stuff bought cheap after the Y2K selloff was back on the markets and folks made a killing.
2004-swords dropped, loss of interest by most people not directly involved in war. Funny though, not as much stuff went back on the market, closet preppers kept their mouths shut and kept there stuff.

2019-Rona, people bought all the swords but most don't have a clue on how to sharpen one. Many prepared folks sit back and laugh their asses off.
20??- WTF is next?

Will a new younger generation re-define normalcy bias. Will the swords lower after everything settles down after this cycle settles down?

Back to the web sites. You will find sites that we started long before Y2K. These we the survivalist newgroups. With new computer apps, they turned into forums. Forums led to blogs. Still, most had their roots in the pre-Y2K build up. This actually is a pretty good description of how it all evolved.

But they left out the real Boy Scouts of America which I feel was at one time one of the best organizations in the world to help boys become young men and the real Girl Scouts of America which did the same for girls.
