Not a blade question but a pen question

I think the S&W's pens are a great buy for the money. I can 't get myself to spend the money on one of the big name ones. I don't really consider it a "tactical" use pen as much as a tough pen that I could use as a last resort. You know, like Jason Bourne. :D Although, he used a cheap pen like a Bic. Mostly, it's just a cool pen. Another reason I like the S&W's is that they use Parker refills, my favorite, especially the gels. BTW, don't think you're going to get one by security at the airport or the courthouse. Not from previous experiences anyway. I think the S&W logo puts them off a little. :D

I tried, cant.
Too bulky for me

I got a Boker multi purpose pen in a grab bag of stuff a while back. Neat but not comfortable to carry around. It stays in my car for the glass breaking end and emergency writing uses and I carry one of the pens I made for when I actually need a pen

This is exactly where mine resides.

Happily, I carry a knife and a gun, which are even more tactical. And, I am a total badass to boot, and can easily kill with just a normal pen.

Maybe the version with the Schrade logo would be better?

I had a Beretta one, it was a really nice pen. Ironically enough I lost it in the airport.. not to the TSA monkeys but just having it fall out of my pocket. Not really happy about that. It's been through a lot of airports and security checks in DC. Didn't try to take it into the White House though because they explicitly said NO PENS. Guess they thought you might try to whip up some EOs and sneak them into the stack.

Just today I ordered some cheaper options off Amazon, I figure if I'm going to be an idiot and lose it I shouldn't get too good of one. It's not like me to lose things, I've never lost a pocket knife anyway but I have lost 1 cheap flashlight and my pen. I guess they don't stick in your pocket as well as a good knife.

Sorry but I've got that Boker and no way is it comfortable in the pocket. Heck I may end up keeping this one and carrying it. Solid stainless, it's not gonna break lol

I missed your original post. It may be uncomfortable for some, but I carry the pen, streamlight protac1l, and keys attached to a carabiner in the same pocket. The light and keys keep the pen to the side of the pocket so I never notice it.

The two I ordered came in.

First one is this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M03H3D1

Nice enough pen, not usable as a weapon. The cap is just held on by friction rather than screwing together and comes apart really easily when handling. Nice if you want easy access to the pen, but crap if you actually want to use it as a poking device. It even feels like it falls apart when you just grip it, or flex the clip. Can't recommend this one at all.

Second one is more gimmicky: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KSQHILE

Everything screws together with the precision you would expect a low-end Chinese knock-off to have. It's large for a pen, but does feel good in the hand and the light is actually usefully bright (LEDs are wonderful things) and is recessed so you can put your thumb over the end of it for poking action. The scraper/screwdriver thingy would make a handy sight adjustment tool and it may be small enough on to use on glasses screws in a pinch. The clip seems pretty strong. Came with refills for the pen and light. Only downside is the bright silver tip.. wondering if some krylon would stick to it to blacken it out?

I was hoping #1 would be a cheaper version of the S&W or boker (just with a rougher finish obviously) but it's not even close and is better suited for shopping lists in the kitchen. #2 is good enough with the addition of the light so I'll use it and see how long it lasts before some TSA goon wants it for his own since it's clearly Evil (tm) and not just a nice pen.

Still miss my Beretta pen.

I got tired of breaking pens in my pocket, so now I carry a boker mpp pen. Carbide glass breaker on the cap, and uses fisher space pen refills. It does not look as "tactical" as most of the other aluminum pens.

Like this one.

Didn't know I needed a tactical pen until this thread. So I bought one of those Bokers.

I like it - it's well-made, the cap snaps onto the other side while writing, and it feels decent in my hand. And in a pinch, it could do some damage.
