The European Union is attempting to restrict gun ownership even more in the name of terrorism control but the Czech Republic is having none of that. At one point their president advised citizens to arm themselves to protect against terrorists and now the country is suing the EU and contemplating making changes to their constitution to protect gun rights. Makes me proud to have that heritage in my blood.

Maybe the Czech's are finally realizing that everytime they get involved with a "European Union", they're forced to give up a third of their country to a bunch of Nazi's.

One can hope.

As the resident (evil) German here I would like to clarify that we're in fact not all Nazis ... but I suspect you know this already ;-)

I wish Germany would get wise on guns but sadly that will never happen, ever.

At least until they drag Merkel and the EU overlords to the nearest lampost.

I'm advocating hanging the woman, she's not a sane response to anything.
I wasn't trying to refute your comment, just using it as a springboard for my own thoughts (specifically on why Germany and the rest of the EU are going to reap the wonderful benefit of having set the dumpster on fire and jumped in with both feet). ;)

Britain should run from the EU, not this back-away-slowly crap.

ETA: I didn't mean to imply that she is *sane*, but as far as German political parties go, the only opposition to her with any serious voting power is... socialism. [insert cringing facepalm here]

Switzerland could have better laws about carrying guns for defense but at least they are not in the EU and people there are screaming against attempts to force its German-based regulations on them. They also decided to clean and ready their reserves of STG57s.

Belgium is also odd: you can buy an uneutered .50 machine gun for $3K (I think a M16 would go for half of that) but carrying a pistol for self defense is not as easy. And there are those trying to push the German ownership regulations onto them.

One of the greatest achievements for these gun laws is that small arms industry in Spain is reduced to fancy shotguns and France is happily following right along.
