My mom was diagnosed with chondrosarcoma bone cancer in her left femur just before Christmas last year. In late January they removed about 6" of her femur and replaced it with a metal device and a new knee. She was told that she would need to have CT's or chest x-rays to see if it returned every 3 months for the next several years.

She had a CT scan on Wednesday and went to the ortho oncologist yesterday to review the results. She has developed about 15 "knots" in her lungs since the surgery. They suspect that it is the cancer returning.

She is to see the sarcoma oncologist next week to see what her options are. Chondrosarcoma does not normally respond to radiation or chemotherapy. They said that if it were only 1 or 2 knots, they would recommend removing them, but with this many it is not an option.

So right now we are in the dark, but it is not looking favorable for her.

If you could, keep her in your thoughts and prayers that she gets better news next week.

So saddened to hear about your mom. I will be praying for her and you all.

Beamer, Im very sorry to hear about this. You, and your family, are in my thoughts.

Tough news hope for the bests. Well keep your mom and your family in prayers

Very sorry to hear that. Can't imagine the what your family is going through.

Keeping your Mom, you, and your family in our thoughts and prayers.

Found out today that her next appointment with the sarcoma specialist is next Monday. So another week of waiting.

Sorry to hear about this. We are praying for you

Dang I hate to read that. Cancer is never good news and it just keeps on giving.

My mom went to see the sarcoma specialist this morning. There is no cure for this cancer, but they are going to start her on chemo. I have only gotten the information second hand so far, but it is not good.

It has been a while since I updated this thread, but my mom has continued down hill. She had been in a nursing rehab center until last night when her oxygen levels were dropping really low and not coming up. They took her to the hospital last night and she was put in CCU. Fluid in her lungs and pneumonia again. The hospital called this morning at 4:30 needed me to make some decisions as I am her healthcare power of attorney. After I approved it, they put her on comfort care and turned off the monitors in the room. She got moved to the hospice house this afternoon. She is only on oxygen and is not waking up or responding to anything. It is just a matter of time now and I jump every time the phone rings. My younger sister is with her tonight and I expect to go back down anytime.

Sorry to hear this man I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. It is the way we all must go sooner or later. It’s a solemn thought.

Prayers for each of you as you go through this difficult time. I had to assist in making the same decision for my mother and it sounds like almost the exact same condition. My heart goes out to you.

I view these decisions now as a " Pathway to Peace" and do wish that someone will be on hand to make that decision for me as that time arrives.

Sorry to hear about your mom, @beamernc . You and your family are in my thoughts.

Prayers going up for y'all during this difficult time.

Sorry man. I lost my mom about almost 9 years ago. There's just no one like your mom. Prayers for your family during this difficult time.

Prayers out to you and your family.
We were all there at the end when my father passed from cancer. We always want them to live forever.
