I could be wrong, but I don't think that using a drone to find a DEAD deer is illegal. Would that mean that thermal imaging cameras are also illegal to recover game?

You wont see a blood trail from that high up.........a large puddle......probably........but not a trail.

I commend them for using every means necessary/available to recover a downed deer. Awesome job.

Well, yeah no kidding. And when you don't have a good blood trail on the ground this would be kind of handy. Ever thought you got a good shot on a deer, know you hit it, and can't find the blood trail? BTDT. ML sabot didn't exit. Deer ended up buried in a cutover and I never found it because he didn't bleed at all. FWIW, I don't use power belts anymore because of that.
