Hello all
I like many others have transplanted here from the "other" place. I recently made what may have been my 1st post here and was politely directed here. After giving that suggestion some thought I decided on this post;

Sorry, but somebody asked for it.

Born in Hialeah, FL in the last century, I'm a native Floridian. When I was 7 we moved to a small town inland of Tampa known as "The Winter Strawberry Capitol of the World"
My wife and I got married in 1984 and we have been happily married for three years!!!
In 1992 she presented me with twin sons!!!!
In 1997 while working for a company that my bro in law was part owner of, we transplanted to Statesville NC.
In 1998 my bro in law became an ex bro in law and shortly thereafter I became an ex employee.
My wife and I briefly considered going back to FL, rejected the idea and have never looked back. We visit on occasion to see family.

In 2004 at 90 years and 10 days my Dad passed away. In that year one of the weapons I inherited is a S&W Target Masterpiece in pristine condition. It was my Dads pride and joy and by the way the source of my screenname. tackdrvr is in reference to the weapon, not my shooting.
According to the Smith & Wesson Forum, tackdrvr was born Sep 29 2005 when I first joined it and show up online.

Sometime after that I joined the "other" sight, and probably others I don't remember.

Shortly after my Dad passed I was given some reloading equipment by a friend. I started reading, made some wax bullets, bought some more tools and components.
Then I reached out for help online at the "other" site. Well known member @Bailey Boat very graciously invited me into his reloading room and helped me reload my first real bullets. First lesson I got that day; the 158gr lswc bullets I had inherited from my Father in law had not been sized or lubed. Bill loaned me 100 Berry's plated bullets and sent me home with my first reloads. He hosted me a few times. He may not remember, but I do.

2010 was a banner year around the house. Our boys graduated high school and took off on the big flight of life. The older by 10 minutes left for Parris Island, the younger by 10 minutes to The Citadel on a 4 year full ride Army scholarship. That summer a fellow known here as @Tim had a Mossy 500 for sale. It was a very busy time and I really wanted the gun but it was going to be about three weeks before I could meet to close the deal. I reached out and Tim was kind enough to wait on me. I drove over to his neck of the woods and met in a mall parking lot. By the way, the Mossy is now at Ft Bragg where the younger by 10 minutes is an active duty Captain. Thanks again Tim!!! He may not remember, I do.

Member @BurnedOutGeek might remember me. I've purchased not 1, not 2, but 3 very nice S&W's from him over the last several years. One of the 686's is currently in Savannah, GA where the older by 10 minutes lives and works. Out of the Marine Corps he is the beverage manager for Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. My fondest hope is that he comes home one day with a bottle of Pappy for me.

There are a few other names I could drop if need be but honest I am not a bot!!!!! I have been around for years. I hope to be around a few more.
I freely admit that I am not very active in posting... perhaps instead of being called new member I could be called comatose... However there are at least two practical reasons I rarely post.
1. I type like old people...….well, do everything. SLOWLY!!! and with 1 finger. Seriously I'm 45 minutes into this diatribe
2. I write like Stephen King and EVERYTHING ends up a major production and 600 words to long. Seriously look at this post.

So there you have it. That is my story and ultimately it really doesn't matter if I stick to it, cause it is certainly stuck to me.

Luke

Well done Luke!!!!!

Welcome!

Welcome to the forum!

Holy crap Luke, both the boys have already made their move to manhood and taking on their own lives. Wow the time certainly has flown bye. I remember we talked about what their plans were before they graduated, and it still seemed like it was a ways away at that time. My minion just picked his classes for 11th grade next year and is routinely asked what kind of cocktail he like at dinner while we're out, of course he was much smaller the last time you saw him as well.

Please pass on our thanks to both of them, and let us know when you get the pappy!
