I guess they realized it was dumb to disallow the 1911 since there are many other platforms with the same manual of arms and capacity limitations. Whether it's the gun shop know-it-all, your cousin, a politician, LE or the NRA no one should say what firearm you should or should not be training with as long as you are training. It should be the individuals choice.
