Store bought eggs and pasture range chickens.

Three of our chickens have started laying recently. The yolks are a deep orange color and have amazing taste.

Thought I'd share!

Welcome to the good eggs. Store bought eggs are usually 3 weeks old at minimum. Farm fresh is amazing. I get mine from a friend who has about 30 chickens and I use about 4 dozen a week. Excellent boiled too.

Ours just started laying so we have enough for breakfast Saturday and Sunday. I can't wait till they all start laying. Friends at work are lined up for eggs. I'm not selling them to get rich. Just selling them to pay for the coop and their feed. We feed some pretty expensive stuff but you can almost see every ingredient. They also have fresh herbs my wife planted for them, along with we give them fresh watermelon to cool them down. Lol

Also, I told my wife I was going to trade eggs for ammo! She's like wtf is that a thing. I said it will be soon!

Ive been eatin farm fresh eggs my whole life. I read on them inter nets that farm fresh eggs dont effect tou cholesterol like store boughts.

Anyone have eggs around CLT/Waxhaw?

Yall should try quail eggs for a real treat.
If you can find them, duck eggs are another good one. They have a lot more yolk than chicken eggs and a richer flavor. They work really well in making pasta and baking.

Yep, there's no question about how much better they are. We get a dozen or two a week from a local lady.

You should try guinea fowl eggs. They are smaller but I think fluffier the only problem is they lay them all over the place instead of nesting most of the time so you have an Easter egg hunt everyday.

If I am being honest, I can't tell the difference. I get farm fresh eggs from my boss from time to time.
Maybe it is the oions, habaneros, and neeses sausage covering up the difference. :D

It also matters what they're feeding and if they're free range.

If you think that's good, you oughta try raw milk over store bought....night and day difference.

Fresh eggs are awesome. Used to get them from @thrillhill But now were working out own. Started with 3 that @kcult gave us, and now have 8 (6 are chicklets)

Wife doesn't eat as much as the boy and I, so after being gone a week we have a nice cache to cook up.

I heard pasture raised chickens taste better too. Maybe it's time to cook one..

Dont let my wife see this comment!

They are much better.

Be prepared for chicken breast that is smaller than store bought, though - which I consider to be a good thing (store bought chickens are ridiculously large because of decades of selective breeding). Plus it only takes about 8-12 weeks and you've got a chicken in the oven.

Eggs were the gateway for me to try organic foods. I couldn't believe the difference between the store bought eggs and local ones.

One thing I never understood was why organic milk doesn't spoil as quickly and organic fruit doesn't deteriorate as quickly.

I'll say a prayer for your heart.
Well it's me and the wife. My step son's are 16 and 18 and eat like horses. My 19 month old daughter likes them as well. So it's all divided up. Hell if I was eating that many i would taking double my cholesterol meds. Lol

Store-bought chicken is also injected with brine to make them look bigger and weigh more. Lots of store bought meats are injected with weight-adding crap to make it look "juicier."

I've always wanted to have chickens, but my wife is against it... We have a half acre plot we could dedicate to nothing but animals and a garden, but there are 2 pecan trees in the middle of it, covered in poison ivy. Just looking at them make me itch.
You could raise 3 chickens in a space no bigger than a 4x8 sheet of plywood

Welcome to the dark side.

I have 15 dozen sitting on my counter currently and even the ones that are couple months old still are better than store bought horse mess

Or worse, they taste like a nasty, greasy, chemical concoction.

I bought my wife an egg skelter, freaks people out to see eggs sitting on the counter.

We have found that unless you want to curse and struggle, if your going to hard boil fresh eggs, you need to let them sit for a week or so, makes them easier to peel

We get eggs from my wife's brother, and they are freaking amazing. Even cracking the shell gives you the impression that it's better in every way. However I have a killer cat, woods full of coyotes, and a dachshund, so no way I can keep any chickens alive at my house
