Can't get out to look properly yet, but the wife and I were getting the chickens in the coop as the storm was starting a few minutes ago.
Huge wind, loud prolonged cracking and a giant piece of pecan fell on it. Maybe. It appears so.

Guess I'll be able to check soon.

We had some pretty big flooding. Our bridge was covered on Wed and Thurs. Hay fields are muddy brown now. Upstream there was big erosion damage on two other bridges. One just had $100k worth of repair/replacement work done on it.
This is some crappy weather. Hope you don't have a ton of damage.

Hope it's not too much damage. The storm hit here at 6pm....lots of wind and rain, no thumps on anything outside, though, some dead branches lying around is all. I was lucky.

I looked at the weather radar and it showed 625pm estimated- it hit about 610-615pm. I had just finished hanging new chicken feeders, put up my tools and came up from the barn. I had even had the fleeting thought that I could wait out the initial onslaught of the storm in the barn if it hit before I finished. Thank God I didn't, I doubt I'd have survived the beating Mrs would have given me for frightening her.

Much appreciated- and you'd been able to take home plenty of dry, seasoned pecan, still have a metric butt-ton.

Definitely be calling my insurance agent on Tuesday...
I'll check and see if I can start the claim online too.
It's not much, but it serves us well, or did. Main part of the building may still be salvaged.

    Hey....about that firewood...lol.

Saw the pics on the wife's FB page...dang that sucks man. Glad you weren't in it at the time. That storm was killer. Watched it on time lapse cameras when I got to work...within 3 minutes went from sunshine to full blown can't see 10 feet to a light drizzle.....it was pretty wild. All the hood rats ran like mad to cover.

Well, I hope everything goes as well as submitting the claim, lol.
Downloaded their app, answered a few questions, uploaded pictures of the barn. Now wait and see.
That's the hard part-waiting- I want to get started cutting it up and retrieve all my tools etc. Guess I'll need some sort of storage option too.

And thanks all for the kind words!

A little Zen time this morning-

I took a chance and opened the barn door this morning- the risk was not being able to close it again.
But, all was good with the door despite the huge ass trees on the other end of the barn. Proceeded to get all of my hand power tools out, in case it did decide to collapse. Got the lawn mower out too along with the yard cart. Then took a video showing all the remaining tools still mounted to the bench, and under the bench.
Had to leave the generator in there, along with everything in the "office" room like the rototiller. Jeez I have a lot of shit.
Measured the outside of the barn for reference later.
Cut branches that were covering the open end of the barn, where all my dry wood is stored.
Oldest daughter and her boyfriend showed up, so we built a hasty lean-to off the back porch to shield the mower from the weather.
    I'm pooped.

Glad you at least were able to salvage some items!

Is insurance going to lessen the loss?

Haven't heard from them yet- I figured with the holiday it would be tomorrow.
    I'm hoping so-

Anyone ever dealt with VMS and Concrete? They're between Asheboro and Greensboro it appears...not sure they even work over here.

Will they even cover the barn. After they depreciate it for age, you’ll owe them money.

The person I talked to seem to think so- I've owned the place for ten years; the house was built in 1960 and she asked how old the barn was. I told her I didn't know.
Wouldn't they have told me when I bought the house it was too old to cover? My policy is supposed to be for replacement cost, at least the house and contents.
