I recently recieved a gift of an old shotgun press that I am looking at parts and pieces for.
Looks to be a pre-1982 MEC 600 jr and is in pretty good shape after a PB blaster and compressed air bath.

It seems the older ones didn't use a powder bushing and just charged thru whatever hole was drilled in the bar along with the shot load. That is...sub-optimal. The one that came with is just says 12 gauge 0 which I understand to be a 1 1/8th load of shot and a red dot / green dot 3 dram (21.5 gr) load. I'm not even using that old bar because it's just not even in the realm of accurate from what I am reading. Not looking to kaboom another gun.

Looks like I would need at a minimum new bottles and a charge bar / bushing setup.
I'm also missing a drop tube and part of the priming cup (spring and pad).

I'm sure someone out there may have some knowledge even though MEC has an excellent archive.

I have one tip: make sure you always keep an empty case on the powder/shot drop station when you're futzing around with it. About 2 years ago I spilled one shot charge on my reloading bench. I *still* find those damned little lead balls all over the room and under stuff when I poke around.

And I know you are gonna hate to hear it but Hyatts has a lot of spare Mec parts, bars, bushings, and fudds who know stuff.

Always check the "Bargain Bins" for spare parts!

o_O
Always check the "Bargain Bins" for spare parts of any LGS you walk into! (fixed it)

An example: A few years ago I was in FL at a meeting. I drove as I enjoy it and the time spent in airports to driving was about the same. I stopped at a few LGS but at one I struck gold! 8 boxes of Greek 30-06 Garand ammo for $3 each.

I order my parts from mec themselves you may als0 look at updating the bushing guide as the old style fingers are getting hard to find Cabelas/bass pro has the bottles what drop tube are you missing It also looks like someone put the "pro check" on the charge bar system (which stops it from moving from right to left unless the handle is down you can install a ez prime auto primer system on it I suggest putting a baking pan under it when you mount it (will help with spills). message me if you have any questions and I will try to help (I had 4 600 jrs at one time )

yeah I think I'm going to update to the post-82 style wad guide and fingers. Those old style fingers are getting hard to find. Otherwise I just need a few odds and ends. I've already been testing
it out on old hulls I found laying about. Works well but it helps that I am a metallic handloader - wasn't hard to figure out why those 3" high brass shells were sticking in the resizing ring :D
