I broke an old pump 22 out of the safe today. I bought it maybe 15 years ago for probably $60-70.
There's no finish left on it. Somebody named C. White scratched his name into the side of the receiver and burned CW into the stock. The magazine tube spring/rod was split and non-functional, but i got that fixed up for $20 or so. There is some obvious pitting up at the front end of the barrel right above the muzzle. The butt plate is some kind of plastic and is missing a chunk from the bottom. It still works just fine though. I think this is the 2nd or 3rd time I've shot it...
I'm trying to figure out just how old this little shooter is. Sorry, it holds over 20 rds with the right ammo, so I guess I'm trying to figure out how old this little high capacity assault weapon is...

Here's what I know.
Round barrel, not octagonal.
"Remington Trade Mark / 22 short, long / long rifle"
RW is stamped above 374XXX on the bottom of the receiver. It does NOT say "Model 12" on it anywhere that I can see, but it looks to be a version of the model 12, maybe a late run of whatever was before the model 12?
"Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Co. Remington Works, Ilion NY USA
Pederson Patents Jan 5 1909, Oct 12, 1901, Mar 8, 1910, Nov 21, 1911, Apr 16, 1912."
There is a P on the left side of the barrel right where it meets the receiver.

If pictures help, I'll upload some.
Just wondering if this little plinker has hit the 100 mark or not...

Remington date codes have two characters, one for month and one for year, stamped on the left side of the barrel, at the receiver end. If yours only has one letter, it is likely the year of manufacture.

If the P is the year of manufacture, it is 1923 or 1967.

Probably not 1967. ;)

that was fast. I spent a little bit reading other threads and found part of that info, but not all of that table

Tha's a nice little hi-cap chooter!

I bet with another $20 or so, you could replace that butt plate. Keep the old one, too, of course.

I have one from 1909. Neat little gun. My buttplate looks just like yours!
