It is NOT against the law to open carry in Wal Mart. It is against company policy. There is a huge difference. IF you oc in there, you can be asked to leave, and if you do not, THEN it is against the law, and you are trespassing.

If you do open carry (I don't oc anywhere), you will give the Walton kids a chance to roll their eyes as they nibble their brie with their friends in the Hamptons and say "well, we tried." They can't do anything but demand you leave.

.... let me ask you this..... how many Wal Mart employees have you met who were obsessed with keeping their rules?

I've seen a resurgence of the receipt checker lately.

What if the next step is a posted "No Weapons" policy? I hear that's a thing ...

I wish that were true but we live in a world where "call the police and report a MWAG in hopes that the cops will come shoot that guy" has been added to our vocabulary as a single verb.

Wal-Mart installed some kind of posts with scanners at the entrance in Mooresville. Not sure what they are used for.

Exactly. I've seen way more people OC'ing in WM after they asked not to than before. The next step is for them to make it a no weapons store completely.

Easy fix...don’t shop there! I’m sorry , but when WM quit selling ammo, that was a business decision and I’m ok with it. BUT when they write letters to congress wanting more gun control, THAT infringes on MY rights and I won’t give a nickel to a company like that! At the moment, there are other places to shop but the list grows smaller everyday! We’ve done this to ourselves by letting them run the small guys out of business, our LGS, bait shops, car repair shops, tire stores, grocery stores, TV shops, clothes stores, see a pattern here? Everyone goes for the cheapest and look what it’s got us! Get to know your local small business owner before they’re gone! Keep your money local!

I know of one, he threatened to throw me out if he saw me OC'ing again back when it was not policy. Had loss prevention straighten him out then. Bet he'd be thrilled to exert his new found authoritie.

Kind of like the idiot that they got out of electronics one night about 8:45. I was there to buy 9mm during the big glut when there was none to be had. There had 4 boxes and I wanted them. Nobody around in sporting goods so they got some dumb azz from TVs. WM had a policy that they didn’t sell ammo after 9 then and I was in a hurry. He came slow walking up and looked at his watch and preceded to tell me it was against state law to sell after 9pm. I told him that I was there at 8:45 and he kept up the “State Law” bit. I went and got a manager and told her what had happened. It was WM policy not state law, I still didn’t get the ammo. Was told to come back in the morning about 7am. I did and it was gone! Pissed me off! This crap they’re pulling now is the last straw. Not another dime!

Weapons include, hammers, sticks, rocks, chains, axes, tire tools, ...I can do this all day. Are they going to ban everything that’s a weapon!? Hell, they way my wife cooks, some of their food could be classified as a weapon of mass destruction!

Don't eat there unless you have Health Insurance, and if you have to use your insurance, don't tell them you dined at chipotle because your likely to get canceled.

Those new walmart gates are thier weak attempt at preventing theft. Supposed to be one way so if you want to leave the store you need to go through the checkout area instead of the entrance to the store.

Is that even legal. I thought that once a business was open to the public you could not in any way prevent use of an exit. Something about the fire code.

They can still leave, it's a deterrent, one side is open. Just makes you think (or should I say stupid criminals) you have to walk past a lot more people to steal then just out the way you came. I'm sure it wont stop anything. People walk right out with giant TV's all the time and tell the receipt person they wont do anything about it

This will Not happen..they have an army of lawyers. They understand the lawsuits from being responsible for mandatory disarming. No WalMart has ever been posted.

been 2 weeks and I don't miss it. Went to Academy today and didn't get treated like a criminal when I took a box of ammo to the checkout.

If they're like the ones used in Europe, you can go through them the wrong way in an emergency - just push them and they'll open, but they trigger an alarm when you do.

7 WalMart Super Stores and at least 2 WM neighborhood stores and a Sams in Horry. 3 in a 12 mile stretch. A local banker that works at the single bank that handles All of WM credit card deposits says every penny of the millions of dollars that come into Horry for purchases daily goes to Arkansas every night at midnight with the push of a button. I talked to a WM employee last Christmas when they were slammed he said that WM had 12 full time employees and over 100 PTs.

Here is the question I have been pondering - if WalMart is a "private" entity, could they enact a "no gays, no blacks" policy without legal repercussion? It is without a doubt that they have lobbied heavily with various political entities and have undoubtedly received numerous favors that benefited them financially off the backs of our tax dollars. When .gov helps you create a monopoly, is it really private when your tendrils are entwined in the public servant arena?

Furthermore, you are entitled to certain rights even on private property. I tried to make the point to a member in one of the receipt debacle/threads that he is entitled to not having unreasonable search or seizure on my private property.

Just some pondering after I finally, finally had a guy ask for my receipt at WalMart yesterday.
