So I sort of ordered this pistol lower kit "by accident" for $100 off PSA yesterday...

I know the grey's don't match but I'll probably paint the plastic anyway.

Im thinking a 300BO build since lovely AK weight boolits and AR ease of build and me being a short range sort of fellow.

Upper wise I'm looking at this, unless anyone has any other recommendations in a ballpark price range for reasons?

Any 300BO pistol build tips?

I think yer on the right track for a decent .300BLK that won't break the bank.

Whatchoo doin' for sights? Perfect application for a RDS.

Have you checked PA's pricing? They can have some pretty decent deals on uppers.

That looks a lot like my 300bo. Black furniture and non-sling attach end plate, all PSA but the lower. Don't love the handguard. I should be embarrassed as it's been a year or two and only a mag or so of 230gr home cast through it, no malfunctions, can't really speak to accuracy.

Not when I looked, all the in stocks were high falutin and priced accordingly

Yeah, never know who's gonna have what in stock. PSA stuff is generally GTG. You have BUIS figured out? Food for thought- https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa...er-with-bcg-ch-mbus-sight-set-5165449836.html

I think you'll have a lot of fun with this, especially with that steel cased Wolf coming out.

Im probably going to yank the Sig Romeo 5 off the Su16 and stick it on the 300BO and put an aperture rear back on the Kel Tec. BUIS will probably be picking up a Magpul front to go with the rear I have around here somewhere.

The Wolf was the tipping point. I've always loved the idea of 300BO, since compact PDW with bigger bullet always sounds like a good idea to me, but the ammo was always sort of pricey.

How much difference does it really make? My end goal is to shoot suppressed but it's likely to get fed a lot of the lighter cheap ammo before that happens. I'm no precision shooter, minute of crackhead at 100-200m is fine for me.
I think it makes a difference if you’re going to shoot subs out of a 10” or less barrel.

My SBR has a 10” Noveske barrel that’s 1:8 and hasn’t had any issues. I bought it without thinking and didn’t even ask what the twist was.

My pistol is a 7.5” and is 1:7, and I made sure it was before I bought it.

You think? But you have both and they both work well?

What's the big difference?

Agreed with @BigWaylon on the 1/7 twist over 1/8, and that’s a main reason I built each of my 300BLK uppers based around BA 8.5” barrels. That said, the 1/8 PSA uppers reportedly work very well, so if spending the extra $80-150 for something nicer with a 1/7 pushes this build over budget, I would bet you’ll be OK with that 10.5”.

The SBR works fine.

The pistol has had several issues, none of which are related to barrel twist. It doesn’t even have 100 rounds through it. (I did have an end cap strike, but I don’t blame it on the twist...especially since it’s 1:7)

So yes, I think...but I know I wouldn’t have bought a 7.5” that was 1:8 if I was going to suppress it.

I think 1:7 comes into play with long, heavy subs from shorter barrels (at least that seems to be the scuttlebutt, I have no personal experience), but yer gonna hafta roll yer own or spend $$$ to buy those loads. I think you'll be fine with the 10.5" 1:8.

I want a 10.5" barrel and will mostly shoot Wolf unsuppressed for now , I think I'll go with the PSA since it's inside my budget and if/when I get the suppressor on track revisit the barrel. I'd probably be going with a longer handguard too for that so it may just end up being another upper I put together myself lol

I don’t think it’s a major oops. It will still look good.

Im tempted to hydro dip (or have someone who isn't ham fisted do it) the stock, grip and handguard something groovy.

better off painting it if you're actually going to use it as a gun. Hydrodip fad sucks for a durable coating. My advice is to get some Alumahyde type epoxy paint and some stencils or make your own pattern.

Ug. try working at a place where a large number of your "clients" actually are crackheads - and work also has a "no guns" policy that extends to employees.
Also try being the boss when a few 20something women are yelling at YOU for the corporate policy.
Also try to say to the group of grumpy women "the company says we all are not allowed, including me, so you have to decide for yourself if carrying a gun for your own self protection is worth the possible penalties IF you are found to have one..." and they're not catching on to the point you're trying to get across that you're never going to enforce the policy and you REALLY want to yell "G#&%@(^*T WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE B%#8H" but you know you can't.

I've been of the opinion for a while every workplace with a no concealed policy needs to be made legally liable for any criminal harm that befalls their employees in property or before they can return to their vehicle and arm themselves.

You want people disarmed, that's fine. You hold the bag when someone takes advantage of that.

Policies are not legally enforceable. They can fire you in an at-will employment state for any reason. But you can also sue them. So there's that.

The good thing about a tight labor market is that you can get away with a bunch of stuff you couldnt if they could fire people willy nilly. I had a supervisor ( that worked for me ) that was caught with a .357 in his desk. I talked it over with the VP of HR and they decided to send him to concealed carry classes. The only reason that happened is because she carried a Baby Browning on her whenever she went into a termination. .

That Romeo 5 is 119.00 at PSA right now.
They made me buy 3.
And this evil thread made me by the 300blk pistol kit as well.
Stay out of my wallet

Yeah I'm probably going to remove the Romeo 5 from the SU16 for now and stick it on the pistol , maybe get another one down the road. They really are a great deal.

Also your wallet say it likes me better and wants to come live with me. Please load it up and I'll PM you my mailing address.

After I bought a 3rd pistol kit in the last week, my wife seized the wallet.
Lol

Lol
yeah, i do most of my ordering after my wife is asleep.
Now, you'd THINK that means I'd have to sneak into the bedroom to get my wallet from my pants.
But I can prettily easily memorize a 16 digit card number, a 4 digit expiration date, and a 3 digit security number...

Well all the bits are here but I can't find my important AR tools (tape protected pliers) to build the lower lol

Here my box of cheapy cheap parts:

IMG_20200103_195631321.jpg

$100 PSA pistol build kit with grey KAK brace and tube and totally different grey standard pistol grip

$50 Anderson lower

$200 Bear Creek 10.5 upper. It looks pretty decent but I guess I'll find out if they remembered to machine a chamber into the barrel once the lower is built. I had to take a gamble at $100 less than the PSA and such a broad variance and such polarized reviews.

Mags are going to be some AR Stoner 20rders I have laying around because they're easy to tell from my metal 30s and I read the kaboom thread. Optic is the Romeo 5 off my SU16. I think I'm going to find a Magpul stealth grey grip of some sort which should match the brace better and not be a sucky A2 style.

Once this proves functional I'm going to Alumahyde the handguard a matching grey. Or maybe paint a ghost or something on it.

Man you can do this for way less than before!

That upper complete for $200?

Yep, BCG and everything. After markup and tax it was $224 and change through my local guy. I paid the $75 for my CHP class Sunday at the same time and my total was less than $300. They're on sale but showing out of stock right now.

Being as the PSA option was $300 I took a gamble! Finish wise it's basic but nicely done. I really like the handguard and muzzle doohickey.

I couldnt figure out why the mag button kept catching. I figured it out.

Just a leeeeetle crooked with the drill boys.

I got everything that doesn't need an Allen wrench or a roll pin done tonight but it's raining too hard to play slip and slide getting to the shed to find my tools right now.

Anyone local to Reidsville got an AR armourers wrench I can use for five minutes?

You know what’s a nice pairing with a 300BLK pistol? A Hawken 50. :p

Somehow my 300blk pistol build from PSA turned into a quest to research 30 cal suppressors, and how to get that past the wife. These threads can go sideways in a hurry.
That’s an easy fix. We’ll meet at the range and let her hear the difference. ;)

...and the look on her face when she shoots it suppressed and hears the buffer spring for the first time will be hilarious.

First time my wife shot my Buckmark suppressed (CCI SV), she looked at me & asked if it had fired. I chuckled, told her take her ears off & try it again. She's been pestering to get her Ruger Mk II threaded ever since. If yer wife likes to shoot, introducing her suppressors has the potential to get expensive.
