Optics Planet drops Hi Cap Mags

Never cared for them anyway. It’s not that difficult to have real time inventory on your website. I’ve never been a fan of any company that will show something in stock, take the consumer’s money, and when they inquire a week later they tell them it is out of stock.

Add them to the CTD list!

I don't buy from them, but this is their story. And it's entirely possible, and absolutely nuts that they can do this. Mainly because the warehouse where they store them is NOT in Cook county. And they apparently never sold mags more than 15 rds anyway because the town their warehouse is in limits mags to 15 rds. They posted this to FB.

We fully understand how the email featured in the article on The Truth About Guns suggests that we may have made a decision to limit the sales of magazines over 10 rounds due to the recent tragedy in Parkland, Florida. Before we go any further, we want to make it clear that our condolences go to the families of all of the victims, and that our hearts go out to a community trying to recover after a senseless event.

At OpticsPlanet, we have never used the inflamed tensions and emotions of current events to drive decision making. Our support of the 2nd amendment is made undeniably clear by the products we offer. We are one of the few online retailers who never stopped offering completely legal products such as bump stocks or binary triggers, when many did. We do not raise prices during frenzies. We do, however, follow the laws and make adjustments when legally required.

In this case, insufficient internal communication led to a misread message. We are not offering magazines with capacities greater than 10 rounds to the general public due to our location in Northbrook, Illinois, and local laws that limit our ability to sell these. Being an internet retailer serving fifty states can be complex at times, and frankly, our location in Illinois only adds to this complexity. We may not always like the law, but we need to follow it.

We own up to the fact that we did not explain this well internally, which led to an unclear message given to the customer, but we can completely repudiate any notion that this is a reaction to any recent event or the political climate. Unfortunately, our loyal customer base is best served by purchasing their magazines from retailers in "free" states. This issue is currently out of our hands. We’re committed to working hard to retain your business for everything else you need.

It's unfortunate that this issue has created so much confusion, and we apologize for not providing clearer messaging in the first place. We continue to support our passionate customer community as we have for the past eighteen years in every way we can.

There are plenty of things on their website that they will not sell to "civilians" . Excuse me if I do not buy into your line of bovine excrement.

Will not stop making me buy from them. They have always come thru. They are following local and state laws which keeps the company officers out of prison. Everybody likes to stay out of prison right? It keeps the anus from getting roughed up. I can buy large capacity mags from others. But I don’t need anymore currently unless I start my own military branch.

I think they should tell the politicos to go pound sand and sell larger magazines anyway as they have zero jurisdiction over anyone outside of their zone and if someone in the zone dies buy one, it’s on the buyer.

At some point people are going to need to take a stand, the more ground that is given up inch by inch before hand, the harder it will be when that day comes. Concessions didn’t stop Ww2 and they won’t stop civil war 2.0 either.

Who buys 10rd magazines?

I like them for range work and IDPA

Si mi amigo. They're great for bench shooting. It's all I use in the AR10 even though I have 20's and 25's.
I've found that the 10 rounders in the M&P 15-22 is a great way to keep the young-ins in check also. Keeps them from going all GI Joe with the 25's and blasting through ammo.

Well, you gotta give em credit for just up & flat-out admitting this. That took some stones.

Apparently Cook county is claiming their law applies to the warehouse (not in Cook county) because the company HQ is in Cook county. How about that for over reach? Ridiculous. And not sure it's actually legal either.
