Seems like a gunsmith would be the only option. Just wanted to see what anyone else has experienced and what a good price would be.

I assume that model is not threaded for chokes?

My only guess is you would need to buy a barrel that was threaded.

A gunsmith could maybe do it if there was enough material at the end of the barrel to drill out. Seems sketchy IDK.

Out of curiosity, why would you want that?

I’d just buy a barrel on eBay

If it’s a 20” 590A1, a factory threaded barrel isn’t an option due to magazine length. Pretty sure you’d have to swap in the shorter magazine from the 18.5” guns, in order to use a factory barrel.

Mike Orlen is one of big names at doing that. Briley chokes can do it and there are several others that you’d just need to ship the barrel to. Threading is relatively cheap, the latest price list I saw for Mike Orlen is under $100. The tubes themselves start from around $30 each and go up. Briley does it for $299 at a minimum but it includes three flush chokes in that price. There are others like Tru lock and Carlsons but I’m not sure on their pricing.

One other note that unless you get it threaded for the Mossberg choke tubes you’ll be limited to the tubes that each company threads for. That can be a good thing because the choke tubes that Mossberg copied are not known for the best patterning.

I’m sure there are good gunsmiths in the state who can do the job but the companies and people above specialize in it and are highly regarded.

I've had a 590 barrel threaded in the past. I recommend it. Currently own an old police gun that was already threaded when I got it.

Yeah, I too love the idea of a short barrel w/ choke tubes. I decided that it was cheaper to just buy a new Rock River AG, which comes with tubes on an 18.5” barrel.
In the old days they’d add a poly-choke. People either love them or hate them.
