Everyone is invited to attend the Orange County Second Amendment Rally, to be held in Hillsborough on Saturday, July 21. This event is going to be a lot of fun, so please come out and show your support for the Second Amendment! For all the details, please visit the Facebook event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/2531660797059709/

Confirmed speakers (in no particular order):
Kenneth Rothrock, Republican candidate for NC House District 50
Sue Googe, Second Amendment advocate
Matthew P. Clements, Libertarian candidate for NC House District 56
Barbara Howe, Libertarian candidate for NC Congressional District 4
Tom Glendinning, Republican candidate for NC Senate District 23
Daniel Johnson, Orange County resident and Second Amendment advocate
(Speakers will continue to be added as we get closer to the event.)

Special prizes will be given to the person who wears the Most Empty Holsters and to the person who Travels the Longest Distance to come to the event.

We will also have a Pop-Tart Gun Contest! Remember the kid who was suspended from school for chewing his toaster pastry into the shape of a gun? (If not, check out the story: http://reason.com/blog/2016/06/16/judge-upholds-suspension-of-the-pop-tart)

Please no weapons as it is against state law to have firearms at rallies, demonstrations or protests. It is also against Orange County regulations to have a firearm on courthouse property. However, attendees are encouraged to visibly wear an empty holster to demonstrate dissatisfaction with the law while still obeying it. The empty holster symbolizes how we are disarmed while simply exercising our first amendment right to peaceful assembly.

...off to buy a box of PopTarts so I can start practicing. o_O

I remember maybe 8 years ago going to a 2A rally in Greensboro and everyone open carried, rifles and pistols. Was the law different then?

I am not sure off the top of my head when this law was passed, but it pretty clearly states that for any demonstration guns are not allowed. Firearms aren't allowed on Orange County courthouse property, in any case.

It was a fantastic event, that I greatly appreciate you and the other organizers for coordinating! Each of the speakers were wonderful in their own way and really put forth a solid case for freedom to practice our 2A rights. Good going! I was glad to be a part.
