Just ordered a RecTeq RT 700. Had great reviews and best warranty I could find. My old propane girl finally rusted out and died after giving me a nice brisket this past Sunday so I made the leap. Never used pellets for anything but feeding the chickens. Several guys at work have Traegers and I really just wanted to be different but also have the ease of pellets. Anyone else use pellets? What do you think about them? Thoughts? Do's and Do not's? Just excited to be upgrading. I plan to use it low and slow mostly but it may occasionally see a chicken or two.

You will love it! Got mine in December and it’s been running 3-4 nights a week since.

Get a smoke tube. It puts out a decent amount of smoke at low heat, but if you need to cook at higher temps you can get the smoke effect from the tube. I’ve found the pellets are pretty similar and not much difference in flavor. Just find what’s nearby and available.
I got the sear plates and they work well though it does take a while to get the 700 up to high temps. I reverse sear steaks quite a bit so I’ll smoke them low on the 700 and have the gas grill hot for a quick sear to finish them off.
Enjoy! I think I’ve gained 10 lbs since it arrived. [emoji2957]
