I ran out of room in my safe for rifles.
When we built the house I had a closet doubled studded and a separate alarm zone just for that room. There is a motion detector and sensor built into the door which is a solid door. That is where I stored my guns before the safe. Once the safe got full, I bought a rack off Amazon to hang 5 rifles horizontal back in that closet. Now that is full and have 3 rifles in the corner of the closet. I would like to build/buy a rack that will hold 6 rifles. I have a new rifle coming in this week a maybe another one next year. I would like to build a vertical rifle storage to hang on the wall in that closet. I cannot hang them from the ceiling because the roof is a stair case which adds a little more protection.

And before someone mentions another safe that is out of the question right now.

Well you could get another safe.

Post up a pic, let’s see what you’ve got to work with. What are the closet dimensions? Closet is under a staircase, so the ceiling slopes front to back or from one side to the other?

Strangely enough, if you search for "wall rifle rack plans", you get lots of options. :p

A lot of them are horizontal storage, but I didn't go too far through the results. I did find this option:

Easy enough to buy some of this, cover it with something soft. and mount to the wall. Butts sit on floor with barrels leaning in it.
Corrugated roof closure strip.

Or have a friend make something of your own dimensions

BigWaylon, the wall mount is what I am looking for. The only question that I have is how sturdy are they even if mounted into studs?

I would try to make a rack but it is not worth the time and trouble if I can find a good one made.

That bottom fascia piece (the horizontal face piece you see below the butts) would cover the empty space between the front and the wall. You'd be able to get inside there and bolt the rear to the studs. Done right, you'd never have an issue supporting the weight.

Or use that at the top and mount a shelf for the bottom. Figure out the desired height and the best spacing between the two. Easy peasy.

Get some of those gun racks that bolt to the back window of a pickup truck. They can be angled under the stairs going up. Run a cable thru them for extra security or bungee cord over the hooks.

Here are some pictures. To the right is the blank wall (36.5"), rifles are in the middle (notice the angle of the ceiling) and the left is a storage area.about 36.5 inches.jpg back wall.jpg opposite of 36.5 wall.jpg
