Outdoor Channel on the ACOG

I finally got my first one this year, haven't zeroed it yet but I like what I'm seeing so far.

I haven’t been doing much door to door clearing rooms lately to slap down $1200.00. I leave that to the professionals. But I do have a couple nice Aimpoints with Vortex magnifiriers behind them at half the price.

EuroOptic "always" have some demo units for less than a grand. Still quite spendy but no battery, no switch, bomb proof. Luv the one I have.

Not a huge fan of acogs. The glass is great. They're pretty neat.
But fixed mag and tight eyebox and short eye relief are deal killers for me. Not too mention price! Can't see what they do that a variable can't do?
Probably durability and toughness, as they seem to be popular in the military?

I have no use for one. I did see a little mini acog I thought was really cool. But just not suited to type of shooting I do. To each their own I guess.

Interesting video. Thanks for sharing. Mines a TA31F. Finest optic I own.

The different models have varying degrees of eye relief; the TA11 (3.5x) has the most forgiving that I’ve found, as well as the most light transmission (35mm objective).

I have shot it to 500 yards with, as Borat says, great success, even making 100% 400yd hits at Ramseur with it.

As for the price ...you get what you pay for. The tritium costs money, the glass is great, and they are quite literally bomb proof. They can take a hell of a beating and still keep going

I love mine

Glad you like it.

Yep. That eye relief when I tried it on a range was toooo close. Fixed power didn’t sway me because I like simplicity but I will say being able to swing my magnifier away is really nice in the dense cover. In a house defense situation the 1x is perfect. Not so much with a 3x.

I agree. But I guess people can use the Binden method (think that's what it's called) with both eyes open.
A good way to practice this is to put a scope cap on the downrange side of your red dot. So you see the dot over black scope cap with right eye.
You just super impose dot over target and press trigger.
Works for some people but not all people.
I just find 1x way easier, and modern variables have very generous eye relief. So don't have any use for fixed power as I use 1x most of the time and only dial mag when I have to.

I've got a 3x green horseshoe reticle version. Even at 3x ringing 500 yard steel is easy. BAC makes CQ stuff doable with no transition or magnification changes. I likey..... . I'd love to have a 1.5x for one of my AR pistols.

I love them. Used a TA01NSN 4x from 95' in Haiti to 08' in Iraq. 08' had a JPoint piggybacked on top.

Got a TA31 4x on my M16A4 clone at home. Learned long time ago to shoot with both eyes open. Bring gun up and superimpose the red fiber optic chevron onto the target for snap shots, works like a red dot then. Expensive yes, but worth it. Battle proven and very rugged sights. Some of my longest shooting has been done with fixed sights, longest deer killed with a 2.5x Simmons (still have that scope since 84') on a 18" FAL at 300m and 1000 yds with a 10x Leupold M3 on a Remington M24.
