Outdoor Limited allows local pickup again

I’ve been following their pricing and they are significantly higher than what I can buy at my LGS for brass case fmj 9mm

We’ve always bought from ODL! But the prices seem to be high everywhere right now. 28 cent + for brass 9mm makes me cringe
Same here. I'm actually a little surprised by their pricing. They were always goto for me, especially when I was going to be in their area and I could pick up. Now, they seem CTDish...

Where’s the current cheapest place to buy now? I’m down to about 700-750 rounds and I don’t even want to shoot the stuff until I can get more.

It took a month, but Bass Pro just shipped me some for $.20 a round. Blazer
I think I paid $.28 for Federal at Fuquay Gun a couple of weeks ago. They don’t ship that I am aware of.

They have my favorite .22 load back in stock at no increase in cost. I will be favoring them with my custom in the near future.

Yep.

So either they paid a lot to get a shipment and are passing it along to us, or.... they're trying to do me a solid by forcing me to shop elsewhere so I remember that we have choices and your 'go to' should be trusted, but verified.

Yeah, 9mm seems a bit high, even the Wolf is 12 bucks for 50.
But the 223 seems about right/normal
Glad the option is there to pick up at the store again

I’d say they over paid for a shipment so they could have stock again.

The likely scenario is that OL is too small to get the deals a large national chain (like Academy) gets. When ammo prices were at historic lows, they could get great deals (just like most anyone else), mark them up what they marked them up, then sell them cheap and try to make money on volume sales. Now that demand is through the roof, they can't get those great deals any longer. OL is having to pay more for ammo, just like thousands of other smaller retailers and it shows in their retail pricing.

I will be placing an order with them in the next few days. They have the largest selection of ammo, and I have never had an issue of backordered item or items being cancelled after I ordered.

Although they have been maybe 20% higher than my local gun store which is a stand alone entity, I wouldn’t stop doing business with them over it. Maybe they bought a load that much higher priced. I don’t view them as gouging. Just more of a premium than I will pay.

Did they cancel any orders and relist at a higher price?
Did they double (or more) their price?

I'm still checking their site first every time I'm shopping for ammo, but now I know I have to keep shopping and can't just buy and move on with my day. Some day things will return to the premium I'm willing to pay to support them.

They're not CTD, we're still talking about wanting to buy from them vs. holding them up as an example of what not to do. :)

I've never bought from them because High Point isn't exactly local, and now I have no reason to. SGammo shipping most ammo every day now.

pre-plague pricing they were usually cheaper than sg because of shipping once sg started charging sales tax. I bought almost everything from sg for years before the great tax equalizer.

Thing I enjoyed about OL was that on some things they were cheaper, on others competitive, so I preferred doing business local.

Its always easier to shop one off deals here and there to save a few bucks, but my shooting habit is more hit or miss. I may go two or three months and not fire a shot, and then have one big range day and blow through a lot of ammo. Then its nice to have a single source where all the different calibers I shoot are generally within the ballpark of other places, make one big order, and get it all at once.
