I love running my chainsaws!

I have 2 Stihl units: MS290 with a 20" bar and an 021 with a 16" bar.

I've had the pleasure of using them 2 weekends in a row bucking trees for firewood. I loaded my F150 bed each trip full with hardwood. I'll split it the old fashioned way with an axe once it gets colder outside.

I don't know about anyone else, but i find working outside very relaxing. A great Sunday.

A pic of my truck bed about half full. Lots of good burning wood stacked in the back yard to split and season.

Anyone else addicted to chainsaws or working outside?

When i was a young pup until old enuff to drive, i worked outdoors. Grass cutting, leaf raking, gutter cleaning, trailer washing, log splitting. I did enuff in those years to last me a lifetime. My outdoor activities now that give me peace and pleasure are shooting and smoking cigars.

Don't get me wrong... I truly enjoy shooting, firepits and hammock naps. I just really enjoy feeling wiped out from a day off hard work and fresh air.

Chit yeah! Man I literally just put the saw down and came in for a sit on the throne and read this! I limbed up a few trees and cut some up downed branches for the burn barrel. It's my first chainsaw, a Sthil 024 AV Super, I bought from my wife's Grandpas estate when he died. Not sure exactly how old it is, but it is at least 27 'cause it was made in WEST Germany. Runs like a top. I honestly love every minute of runnin' it, but with all that work comes reward... now it's time to crack open the mason jar...
Oh yeah, Anyone else ever heard someone call it a "power saw?" All the guys I used to work with in Sylva called it that.20171119_175204.jpg

Yeah...only way to fly.

I love working outside. That said, I'm usually good for cursing the weather round here between June and September, but October through about April? Can't be beat and I'm especially fond of late November through February.

The colder, the better.

That's some mighty fine wood you got there Jeff. ;)

I love a good day of running a saw and harvesting some firebowl food.

Yeah... I'm very proud of my wood...

Unfortunately I have your same affliction. I took three years of forestry while in high school and attended forestry camps. I love the smell and feel on running a chain saw. It is calming and satisfying. Glad to see a kindred spirit.

I don't mind running a saw in cooler weather and enjoy a good fire or woodstove but not a fan during summer months. Ran one a lot this last year for several days over 4th july when it was so hot cutting some big oaks and reminded me why I am glad I am not a lumberjack for a living.

I love working outside, or just being outside, as well. I enjoy running my saws, a big Stihl and a small 14" Echo. My days of picking up big rounds and hauling them up out of the woods on my shoulders are over however. Now I just drive my Outlander pulling a trailer down in the woods and haul it out the easy way.

Are you sure you're just not a fan of buttered scones for tea? :p

Nah just taking down 8 or 9 trees ranging from 20" to 40" with a old homelite 750 in 95+ heat was just brutal. I will plan vacation time better next time for that kind of work but was glad to get one down since it was over the house.

Oh, I get it... I'm a complete weenie in hot/humid weather. Fortunately, the "appropriate" season for tree trimmin' is winter, when they're dormant, and summertime storm-downed trees haven't affected me much. Yet.

I’m going to be working on a tree tomorrow hopefully. Wind brought it partially down right before the last hurricane that was supposed to hammer us. I cleaned up a small part of it before the storm that was on a fence, and haven’t had time to finish the rest. Hopefully the majority will be done before I go back to work Monday. Really looking forward to it.

Kids and I split some of our new firewood to start the seasoning process.

It was fun watching the kids work away with me.

Another great day!

i have a chainsaw in my hall....never used it. Being outside in winter is fine, but not in summer! If you feel the need to cut stuff down, come to my house, I've got lots of stuff you can work on!!!

Yeah, that's it. At the time my mountain dialect comprehension wasn't at the level of my southern redneck. Man, I miss being in the mountains...
