I used to read his stuff in National Lampoon and later, he had a monthly article in either Car & Driver or Road & Track. I don't remember which one it was. I always enjoyed his humor.

That's a blow. I haven't read his stuff for years, but back....pushing 30 years ago now?....I was a huge fan.

I bought two or three of his books when he was really on his game. Humorist, satirist, and astute political commentator. Loved what he wrote. RIP
