P80 Glock 80% lower

Has anyone built/done one? Was it worth it? Just wanted some feedback on a build that I might do......

There is a whole thread somewhere here that discusses all aspects of it. If I had the link I would readily provide it but can’t find it on my cell phone.

I’ve done 3. Stay away from the original gen1 frames. Newer versions way more reliable. Fun and easy projects but definitely not money savers.

I just built a full sized one. I built it primarily to go under a MechTech carbine upper that I ended up with basically for free when I bought a G22. It would not fire when mounted under the carbine but works perfect with the Glock slide. After some research there are some things you have to do to it to make it funtion with the MechTech and I have not gotten into that yet. I prefer the way it feels VS my gen 3 and 4 stuff, and it was comparable to buying a gen5 lower off of armslist after I put OEM Glock parts in it. I wanted to learn the platform and also have a piddle project and this filled the gap for me and I really am happy with it. If I find a deal on an upper I would do another one for sure.

You can buy a Glock cheaper than you can build even a basic 80% gun. That said, you can build one to suit your wants and needs. While you are doing the build, you'll learn about the how's and why's a Glock platform works. @BatteryOaksBilly and I have done 3 of them. The first one didn't want to run at first. We learned that we didn't remove enough material in the recoil spring channel. Once we corrected this, it runs perfectly. The next 2 ran great from the beginning. They are a fun project and you feel like you're doing something wrong. :)

The grip seems to be better on the kits...…. closer to a 1911 grip.

If you wanted some features...… such as a threaded barrel, you might come out cheaper with a kit.

As @Geezer and I have reported in these kinda threads, Glocks here are $300-$400 here depending on model. A Gen 4 is Less, nobody around here will touch them. Some specialty models Might bring a Tad over 4. As I have come to learn it's not a dollar issue with the folks that like these. They just like building them. That's fine. Hell, I enjoyed the 3 Larry and I did. I Do like the way they feel in your hand better than a 1,2, or 3 G. The 5 seems to solve any grip issue. I have never owned a G5. The 1-3s are just dirt cheap and work like well.....Perfection.
Are the PSA guns out yet???

Are they economically superior? No.

Are they fun and satisfying to build? Yes.

But it's the one major thing that they don't have that is their best feature for a lot of people. ;)

Does anyone have high round counts through a poly 80? Wondering if they are as durable as a Glock frame. I don't particularly like the grip angle on a Glock only reason I'm thinking about going poly 80.
